just got a 32 with rb25de+t and its meant to be a non turbo 25 neo from a stagea. anyway to tell the two apart ? preferably without stripping the engine down

stating the obvious.....does it have the dust cover on the engine?

Check the cas.

Is it the metal one. Or the hitachi plastic model?

nope no dust cover and its a metal cas

Then it is NOT a neo engine.
Its either you average rb25det from a r33. Or an early model from the r33 series 1.5.

Once again. No, thats not a neo engine from either a late 33 or r34 skyline

I dont think that plastic cover is the only difference between the 2 engines. If its a +T it will probably had the cover removed anyway to make way for the conversion.

your right soube.

But its one of the easiest ways to tell.

If he has the metal CAS, he will have a different cam to that of a slotted drive hitachi cas you will see in a 34 neo and very late r33's.

Of course for some reason he could have a r33 zorst camshaft in the neo, but i doubt it.

yeah i was thinking it was a normal 25det as it still has an ignitor pack. thanks heaps.
