Well its time for my babies first service, "sniff" i'm so proud of my lil girl, why it was only two months ago she learnt how to drift thru corners and she makes me proud when she handles high rev clutch drops.....ahhh the memories 8) , but she has been tainted and is in need of "cleansing", so i ask my fellow compatriots, what is your preferred oil in a modern turbo motor? I have been told she was givin 10/30 out of the Nissan mill, buuuuuuuttttt since she had been "modified" I have been advised to use Mobil one 15/50 synthetic.......thoughts and suggestions?

Mobil 1 Synthetic is good... I think Penzoil also make a good synthetic.. and there is one Hi-Po oil thats around $68 for 5 litres...

I personally use whatever the Zupps service guy recommends at the time I get my car serviced, which I believe is Castrol at the moment...

And I've never had any problems.. but the EJ20's are great engines... smile.gif

Good luck.. and happy servicing!

For a turbo, synthetic is the go. There is currently quite a few different grades of Mobil 1. 5W50, 10W30 and 0W40 Trisynthetic.

Really depends how much u wana spend bcuz Mobils Semi Synthetic product (Mobil Synth S) is quite good too.

I own an older car so i use a mineral oil, but if i owned a nice car/turbo id use Mobil 1.

Skylines use a wierd 7.5W/30 oil.

Apparently its "not reccomended" to use anything but?

I would be going for something nice and thin so you dont spend about 45 mins waiting for the oil to start moving smile.gif

yeah i would stick with Mobil one 15/50 synthetic well thats what i use and it seems fine!!! it is expensive but you kno its worth it!!! i wouldnt use the same oil which they come outta the factory with as they usually use a dirty oil for the wearing in process. but i am sure that has already been dumped!!! how often does the book say for a service. i am guessing 5000k as with most factory turbos. but its easy to change your oil and filter i do mine every 2500kms then you know its clean but i am just careing.. althoght it is expensive to do. thats what i recons anyway!!!

that 7.5W30 is the Nissan genuine oil i think. according to Nissan they have precision cut bearings etc and require a oil that is to that exact thickness and grade

Gary-d , that stuff cracks me up wink.gif subaru guy told me semi synthetic was fine, he uses it in his turbo soobs , u just have to change it more often, , full synthetic u can get away with 10k changes, penrite, or penzoil , mobil one = over priced
