The age of the engine gives you an indication of what you want.

The best way to make a choice is to have a oil pressure guage and try out different types of oil and see what pressure you actually get when running the engine. Most people dont do that though

I tend to like the castrol edge I think its called. Often on sale at supercheap its a full synthetic 10w40 I think which would suit most 2L turbo engines. I have been known to pick up a fair few bottles at the sale times.

I had a Sr20DET powered 180, got it fresh delivery with 37k on it. I used castrol GTX3 , changed oil and filter every 5k or 3 months which ever came first. Apprentice bought it off me, continues my servicing schedule and the engine and turbo are still excellent at 140k, he has killed 2 gearboxes and a cushion button clutch though LOL. But the choice is yours.

Nissan is a 7.5W40 from the factory so a 10W40 is good for decent condition engines and a 15W40 for high milage engines or ones running high boost.

i used penrite semi syn 10-50 cos mine had a few k's nd it was summer

seemed to go well and a few ppl i worked with used the stuff too (i worked at supercheap)

we didnt stock the full sin range at the time so i gave that a go and it seemed fine

I was using Martini Super Sint. 10W40 but have changed to Motul 15W50 at the last service. The 10W40 was a little too thin and disappeared a little too quickly. So far so good on 15W50. It's a 10-12 year old engine so it's not a bad idea to use a slightly thicker oil.

the above reason is wht i couldnt choose a fully synthetic oil becuase there wasnt one that have the viscosity i wanted

get a good filter wench the one with the camber action that u put on the end of a ratchet

if the prev owner has done it up too tight u wont be getting it of as there is like no room around where it is

soz just re read and its in a pulsar

shouldnt be to bad

i was thinking s13

FWD pulsar is worse, although the GTiR motor is decent enough.

not that hard to get to the oil filter, just pop the powersteering resivoir up and jam your hand in from there

Especially with that damn metal surround around the filter, number of times I have sliced my finger tips open trying to remove and fit the filters!!

Power steer reservoir is fine, it is the damn master cylinder that gets in the way!!
