As topic says.. has anyone used (or knows of anyone) Jaycar stero components?

And if so, what do/did you/they think? good/bad ?

Friend of mine had some 6" mids in the doors of his Skyline. Wasn't too bad off the head deck. Couldn't handle too much bass.

I have the understanding that Jaycar amps are quite excellent. Dunno about the subs, but I'd be a bit skeptical about that.

Im using 2 jaycar response 12's

The Dual Magnet Dual Voicecoil ones.

They hit a 146db in my Integra. Not sure what they are doing in the supra.. but still fucken loud.

Best quality subs ive ever had.. i'd recommend them to anyone (take a nice amount of power too if ya have it to give to them)

Mate of mine got some 6"x9", cant handle much base either running of 40w explod head unit. I agree wid Hoon bout the Amps, but thats about the only stereo component i would buy from Jaycar.

Probably goin to get flamed for this.......i dont cosider jaycar to be even entry level car audio stuff, everyone i've known who has used it has had problems, present comany excluded. personally i'd go for lower level name brands like pioneer or alpine. and yes i realise they are probably made in the same factory. and 146db in an integra, thats mighty impressive, is that an actuall db drag racing score? thats cool 8)

146 is extremely impressive!

i heard one of those subs b4 and to me it sounded like more of a sound...not bass sub...if ya know what i mean.

But yeah ive heard that they arent the best type of audio equipment going around.

From what i have heard, Jaycar amps are one of the best value for money amps you can get. Im not to sure about their subs or speakers tho

I heard they have really good amps also.. I've got my eye on their 2 x 100 amp (around the 200 dollar mark I think)

TRX910:

Check out the 2 x 150 watt one.. apparently it puts down 450rms out of one channel. == good value for power.

Thats what i was orginally going to get to power my 2 12's.

Instead i have a fusion amp that puts out 850rms into one channel.

12's connected to it in parallel with bridged voicecoils (each sub at 8ohm when bridged only puts a 4ohm load on amp)

Runs quite well, wouldnt mind 2 of the 2x150watt amps for them tho biggrin.gif

Any idea of the price dude?

It's to power one 12" MTX subbie, so it'll have more than enough power biggrin.gif

I got 2 JL 12" subs that really crank on 120WRMS each. What's the biggest amp that Jaycar do? At that price, I can afford to muck around.

Hoon:

The biggest is the one i mentioned (for power anyway.. you can get a 5xwhatever or a 4xwhat amp too.. but this is the most powerful)

http://www1.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?...x=&SUBCATID=595

Price is $335 each..

or 2+ is $305 each

or 4+ is $269 each..

would make sense to get a group of people wanting them and to raid jaycar one day!

Hmm, somehow I think that'll kill my sub.. it's just a MTX Thunder 6000 12" 4 ohm sub

RMS handling 250watts

Max handling 500 watts

It seems to me that their 2 x 84WRMS Mosfet Car Amplifier would be better suited for my sub (234W x 1RMS @ 4ohms)

in the power per channel stakes, the 2 X 150Wrms one is the best. I have one of them, and i have had one of the 4 X 100 ones. The 4 X 100 was great for running 2 low powered subs, however the 2 X 150 is better. I have modified my 2 X 150, its now 2 ohm mono stable and puts out close to 700wrms into 1 channel at 2ohms. I have some pics of the mod if your interested...

the jaycar gear (even the speakers) has a bit of a reputation as being great value for money.. not the best gear on earth but just as good as your common brand name stuff, just not charging the earth for it.. there subs have one the odd comparison too... ive got jaycar 6.5s in my other car they r fine.
