Are you talking GPS or sat nav????

do you want something to tell you where u are and how far above sea level you are... or do u want something to tell you where you are and where to turn... VDO makes a pretty nice sat nav that can be linked up with tv's and dvd's and other wacky shit...

I have a hand held GPs that i use simply for testing speedo's... Picked it up off e-bay for $59.00 it's only hand held though but it has a few funcions that are cool

I have found the VDO system quiet good and easy to use. HSV use this exact system which yu can buy either as standard fittment or as an option on some models, as well some normal Holden's.

Best bit that I found is that if you purchase it aftermarket like most of us do then you don't have to buy the VDO screen, if you already have a T.V monitor (i.e. Alpine, Kenwood, Pioneer etc etc) it will be compatible. Autobarn stores are usually the cheapest place to purchase this from.

It would be great if the Federal Government would pull their fingers out and upgrade technology to the same as in the U.S.A. as the same VDO system in the U.S.A. will bring up all information such as restuarants, hotels/motels, shopping centres etc etc everytime you get to a new town/city. I have seen this exact system in a well known Australian movie actors ute which was bought in from the U.S.A. and it is a far better system. You could even use the screen to make phone calls and dial up the numbers etc etc. Tricky peice of equipment but well worth the $$$$$

I have a friend who has a VDO system in his car, pretty tricked out with features...tells you and shows you on the map the nearest motel, hotel, restaurant, hospital....and the list goes on. All comes at a price i guess $3000 to be exact

Im looking for something similar but minus the hefty price tag
