i bought this turbo the other day, a ct17, or m27...

it's made by garrett, and yeah, i dont have a clue what car it came off so if anyone could help me out it'd be greatly appreciated

also, on an almost completely unrelated topic

is it true that when u put big arse cams on a turbo car, with big overlap and lift, that you can actually LOSE power through boost leakage?

cos i was reading about turbo h22a's in the states and yeah, they mostly use stock, or close to stock cams which i thought was crazy but apparently the h22 cams are big enough stocko, and any bigger lift and overlap will cause a reduction in power :?

Sure it's not a garret GT17?

Ball bearing turbo, quite small, smaller than a T2 from a Nissan Exa even.. but of course it's BB.

I'm not sure the number of factory cars they came from... I know they came on some Saabs, and I think there was a twin turbo Maserati that ran them too... Not really good for anything except turbo'ing a non-turbo car or on an engine less than 1.0L

Yeah its true. Large valve overlap can decrease boost. Big cams work mad on NA cars but the concept behind filling ur cyclinder with airfuel is completely diff on turbo vehicles

CT turbos are usually found in toyota cars. eg mr2s, celicas, supras etc etc

... except there's no such thing as a CT17...

and Toyota doesn't use Garret.

apparently using the cams from the 7mge in the 7mgte will give a nice rise in power

I have heard it's in the region of 5-10hp...
