yeh but then i cant get it rego'd (or so my dad says) coz the XF never came out with a V8, i was thinking a 13B coz standerd they make more than the enigne thats in it now and the exaust is on the right side and its not wider than the oringinal engine

You could put a new turbo six in it

an AU inline-six DOHC engine would go in, then turbo kits could be bought for round 3 grand or so, probably more but oh well. funnily enough i just read something on this. This Website should be of some use to you. its a 302 windsor from an EB XR8

you'll need a mod plate for a v8 but it won't be too hard to get it approved as they are nearly identical to the XEs. As far as putting a 13b in it, just go and buy a mazda instead. a v8 would be your cheapest and easiest way to get descent power.

yeah you'll be fine putting a v8 in it as long as u get it engineered. which u would have to do anywayfor a conversion. I'd say a clevo, cant beat them for an old ford. Please do put a rotary in it.

just because they didnt come out with a v8 dont mean you cant get it regoed, u will need to up the brakes and a few other things and then get it engineered no mater what engine u put into it

oh and DONT put a rotary in it, what did a poor lil mazda engine do to deserve being dumped in an old ford tongue.gif

351 Clevo

or if you have the cash, drop in a BA XR6 I6T

You can put a V8 in it because the XE came with a V8 and the XF's have the same chassis code (or something like that - read it on FordForums.com.au)

Either a Carbie V8 or an AU I6 would be your best bets if you want to keep it powered by a Ford. The AU is simple enough to control and get power, the BA engines are difficult to make ECU changes apparently and the comp wants to see all the other stuff it usually controls. 351 would be fun...

Thinking out of the square - 1/2JZ would be very entertaining, or a 1UZ/ VH45 would be cool too.

What part of the mythtical land did you pull that dibble from?

The rules are, you can not fit a motor that is older than the date of manafacture of the vehicle.

IE in an XF you can not fit an XE or earlier. you CAN however put in a EB or later.

You do not have to upgrade brakes etc, but it is a good idea to. You must also use all emmisions gear from the vehicle as well, ie, cat converter, factory ecu, carbon canaster etc etc etc.

As long as the capacity falls into the vehicles weight class your allowed to do it, and being the XF is the same weight as a small ferry you can basicly go nuts.

i've got two converted XF both with 351 clevelands . If you XF body is originally fitted with a leaded 6 cylinder engine ( feb 86 was the last i think ) it is simply a matter of making sure the coversion is identical to XE falcon in regards to pollution / brakes etc .If you are converting an 1986 or later falcon you will not meet emissions requirements for unleaded fuels and will have to convert it to striaght lpg to get it plated .
I just like the body shape and updated interior compared to earlier models howover running a 6/71 blower and engine braces is twisting the body to pieces and putting a permanent lean to the right side in the springs .
A nice alternative without the weight penalty is an EL falcon 6 , celica 5 speed and a turbo kit , nice fit , nice power , nice weight , simple conversion , easy engineered .
If you want complete crossflow turbo kits and good advice talk to Mike Vine at Capalaba or AVO as these guys have turbo'd these engines when they were production new .
