Well I've tried following this:

Cant see any options buttons.

Browser I'm using is Google Chrome

Hi,

It looks like that particular Help topic is a bit out of date.

Presently "subscribing" options only exist when creating or replying a topic, which is utilized with the checkbox "Enable email notification of replies".

I'll look into whether we can add a subscribe option to threads so that people can subscribe without being involved in a discussion.
