GAS STATION INFORMATION

RECOMMENDED FUEL: Use unleaded regular gasoline with an octane rating of at least 87 AKI (Anti-Knock Index) num- ber (Research octane number 91).

CAUTION

● Using a fuel other than that specified could adversely affect the emission control system, and may also affect the warranty coverage.

● Under no circumstances should a leaded gasoline be used, because this will damage the three-way catalyst.

● Do not use E-85 fuel in your vehicle. Your vehicle is not designed to run on E-85 fuel. Using E-85 fuel can damage the fuel system components and is not covered by the NISSAN new vehicle lim- ited warranty.

RECOMMENDED ENGINE OIL: ● Engine oil with API Certification Mark ● Viscosity SAE 5W-30

In addition to factory installed options, your ve- hicle may also be equipped with additional ac- cessories installed by NISSAN or by your NISSAN dealer prior to delivery. Welcome to the growing family of new NISSAN owners. This vehicle is delivered to you with confidence. It was produced using the latest techniques and strict quality control. This manual was prepared to help you under- stand the operation and maintenance of your vehicle so that you may enjoy many miles (kilome- ters) of driving pleasure. Please read through this manual before operating your vehicle. A separate Warranty Information Booklet explains details about the warranties cov- ering your vehicle. The “NISSAN Service and Maintenance Guide” explains details about maintaining and servicing your ve- hicle. ● Do not ride in a moving vehicle when the seatback is reclined. This can be dangerous. The shoulder belt will not be against your body. In an accident, you could be thrown into it and receive neck or other serious injuries. You could also slide under the lap belt and receive serious internal injuries.

● For the most effective protection when the vehicle is in motion, the seat should be upright. Always sit well back in the seat with both feet on the floor and adjust the seat properly. See “Precau- tions on seat belt usage” later in this section.

● After adjustment, gently rock in the seat

to make sure it is securely locked.

● Do not leave children unattended inside the vehicle. They could unknowingly ac- tivate switches or controls. Unattended children could become involved in seri- ous accidents.

● The seatback should not be reclined any more than needed for comfort. Seat belts are most effective when the pas- senger sits well back and straight up in the seat. If the seatback is reclined, the risk of sliding under the lap belt and being injured is increased.

Forward and backward Pull the lever up and hold it while you slide the seat forward or backward to the desired position. Release the lever to lock the seat in position.

Seat lifter (if so equipped for driver’s seat) Turn either dial to adjust the angle and height of the seat cushion to the desired position.

Reclining To recline the seatback, pull the lever up and lean back. To bring the seatback forward, pull the lever up and lean your body forward. Release the lever to lock the seatback in position. The reclining feature allows adjustment of the seatback for occupants of different sizes for added comfort and to help obtain proper seat belt fit. See “Precautions on seat belt usage” later in this section. Also, the seatback can be reclined to allow occupants to rest when the vehicle is stopped and the transmission is in P (Park) or N (Neutral) position with the parking brake fully applied.

HEAD RESTRAINTS (1st row only)

WARNING

Head restraints supplement the other ve- hicle safety systems. They may provide additional protection against injury in cer- tain rear end collisions. Adjust the head restraints properly, as specified in this section. Check the adjustment after someone else uses the seat. Do not attach anything to the head restraint stalks or remove the head restraint. Do not use the seat if the head restraint has been re- moved. If the head restraint was removed, reinstall and properly adjust the head re- straint before an occupant uses the seat- ing position. Failure to follow these in- structions can reduce the effectiveness of the head restraints. This may increase the risk of serious injury or death in a collision.

Lumbar support (if so equipped for driver’s seat) The lumbar support feature provides lower back support to the driver. Move the lever forward or backward to adjust the seat lumbar area.

Removal Use the following procedure to remove the ad- justable head restraints. 1. Pull the head restraint up to the highest

position.

2. Push and hold the lock knob. 3. Remove the head restraint from the seat. 4. Store the head restraint properly so it is not

loose in the vehicle.

5. Reinstall and properly adjust the head re- straint before an occupant uses the seating position.

Install 1. Align the head restraint stalks with the holes in the seat. Make sure the head restraint is facing the correct direction. The stalk with the adjustment notches 䊊1 must be installed in the hole with the lock knob 䊊2 .

2. Push and hold the lock knob and push the

head restraint down.

3. Properly adjust the head restraint before an

occupant uses the seating position.

Adjust the Active Head Restraints properly as described in this section. HEAD RESTRAINTS (2nd row – outboard positions only)

WARNING

Head restraints supplement the other ve- hicle safety systems. They may provide additional protection against injury in cer- tain rear end collisions. Adjust the head restraints properly, as specified in this section. Check the adjustment after someone else uses the seat. Do not attach anything to the head restraint stalks or remove the head restraint. Do not use the seat if the head restraint has been re- moved. If the head restraint was removed, reinstall and properly adjust the head re- straint before an occupant uses the seat- ing position. Failure to follow these in- structions can reduce the effectiveness of the head restraints. This may increase the risk of serious injury or death in a collision.

Front-seat Active Head Restraints The Active Head Restraint moves forward utiliz- ing the force that the seatback receives from the occupant in a rear-end collision. The movement of the head restraint helps support the occu- pant’s head by reducing its backward movement and helping absorb some of the forces that may lead to whiplash-type injuries. Active Head Restraints are effective for collisions at low to medium speeds in which it is said that whiplash injury occurs most. Active Head Restraints operate only in certain rear-end collisions. After the collision, the head restraints return to their original position.

5. Reinstall the head restraint and properly ad- just the seat or seatback before an occupant uses the seating position.

FLEXIBLE SEATING

WARNING

● Never allow anyone to ride in the cargo area or on the rear seats when they are in the fold-down position. In a collision, people riding in these areas without proper restraints are more likely to be seriously injured or killed.

● Do not allow people to ride in any area of your vehicle that is not equipped with seats and seat belts. Be sure everyone in your vehicle is in a seat and using a seat belt properly.

● Do not fold down the rear seats when occupants are in the rear seat area or any luggage is on the rear seats.

● Head restraints should be adjusted properly as they may provide significant protection against injury in an accident. Always replace and adjust them prop- erly if they have been removed for any reason.

● If the head restraints are removed for any reason, they should be securely stored to prevent them from causing injury to passengers or damage to the vehicle in case of sudden braking or an accident.

● When returning the seatbacks to the upright position, be certain they are completely secured in the latched posi- tion. If they are not completely secured, passengers may be injured in an acci- dent or sudden stop.

● Properly secure all cargo to help pre- vent it from sliding or shifting. Do not place cargo higher than the seatbacks. In a sudden stop or collision, unsecured cargo could cause personal injury.

Folding the front passenger’s seatback flat (if so equipped) To fold the front passenger’s seatback flat for extra storage length when transporting long items: 䊊1 Slide the seat to the rearmost position. Lift up on the recline lever, located on the out- side edge of the seat, and fold the seatback forward as far as it will go. Then lift up on the latch located on the upper corner of the seatback to release the back of the seat.

● If you fold the front passenger’s seat- back flat forward to carry longer ob- jects, be sure this cargo is properly se- cured and not near an air bag. In a crash, an inflating air bag might force that object toward a person. This could cause severe injury or even death. Se- cure objects away from the area in which an air bag would inflate. See “Precautions on supplemental restraint system” later in this section.

● Never allow anyone to ride in the cargo area or on the front passenger’s seat when it is in the fold-down position. Use of these areas by passengers could re- sult in serious injury in an accident or sudden stop.

3. To return the front passenger’s seat to a seating position, lift up on the seatback and push it up to an upright position. Then pull up on the recline lever and lean the seatback to a proper seating position. Release the lever to lock the seatback in position.

Folding the 2nd row bench seat To fold the 2nd row bench seat flat for maximum cargo hauling: 䊊1 Disconnect and secure the center seat belt and tongues into the retractor base. See “Stowing the center seat belt” later in this section. Then properly stow the outboard seat belts in the seat belt hooks before fold- ing down the rear seats. See “Seat belt hook” in this section for more information.

The headrests must be removed before fold- ing down the seatbacks. To remove the headrests, push and hold the lock knob while moving the headrest in an upward direction. Store the headrest properly so it is not loose in the vehicle. Pull the strap forward, located in the center of each seat cushion, and fold each seat cushion toward the front of the vehicle.

3. Then lift up on the seat cushion to remove it from the seat base. Be sure to store it in a secure place.

To return the rear seatback to a seating position:

1. Push the anchor bars on the bottom of the

seat cushions down into the seat base.

2. Rotate the seat cushion toward the rear of the vehicle and push down until they are folded flat to secure each seat cushion to the seat base. Make sure to hold the seat belts above the seat cushion and prop- erly push the seat cushion down into place.

● Never allow anyone to ride in the cargo area or on the rear seat when it is in the fold-down position. Use of these areas by passengers without proper restraints could result in serious injury in an acci- dent or sudden stop.

Removing the 2nd row bench seat cushions The rear seat cushion can be removed to provide additional space when folding the 2nd row seat- backs flat. To remove the 2nd row bench seat cushions:

1. Pull the straps forward, located in the center of each seat cushion, to fold the seat cush- ions forward.

2. Lift up and fold each of the red release handles on the seat base toward the front of the vehicle. This will release the seat cushion from the seat base.

SEAT BELTS

PRECAUTIONS ON SEAT BELT USAGE If you are wearing your seat belt properly ad- justed and you are sitting upright and well back in your seat with both feet on the floor, your chances of being injured or killed in an accident and/or the severity of injury may be greatly reduced. NISSAN strongly encourages you and all of your passengers to buckle up every time you drive, even if your seating position includes a supple- mental air bag. Most U.S. states and Canadian provinces or territories specify that seat belts be worn at all times when a vehicle is being driven.

fastened to the proper buckle.

● Do not wear the seat belt inside out or twisted. Doing so may reduce its effectiveness.

● Do not allow more than one person to

use the same seat belt.

● Never carry more people in the vehicle

than there are seat belts.

● If the seat belt warning light glows con- tinuously while the ignition is turned ON with all doors closed and all seat belts fastened, it may indicate a mal- function in the system. Have the system checked by a NISSAN dealer.

● No changes should be made to the seat belt system. For example, do not modify the seat belt, add material, or install devices that may change the seat belt routing or tension. Doing so may affect the operation of the seat belt system. Modifying or tampering with the seat belt system may result in serious per- sonal injury.
