INTERIOR LIGHTS

Type A

The interior lights have a three-position switch and operate regardless of ignition switch posi- tion. When the switch is in the ON position s1 , the interior lights illuminate, regardless of door posi- tion. The lights will go off after about 30 minutes unless the ignition key is in the ACC or ON position. When the switch is in the O position s2 , the interior lights will stay on for about 30 seconds when:

HOMELINKT UNIVERSAL TRANSCEIVER (if so equipped)

The HomeLinkT Universal Transceiver provides a convenient way to consolidate the functions of up to three individual hand-held transmitters into one built-in device. HomeLinkT Universal Transceiver: c Will operate most Radio Frequency (RF) devices such as garage doors, gates, home and office lighting, entry door locks and se- curity systems.

c Is powered by your vehicle(cid:146)s battery. No separate batteries are required. If the vehi- cle(cid:146)s battery is discharged or is discon- nected, HomeLinkT will retain all program- ming.

Once the HomeLinkT Universal Transceiver is programmed, retain the original trans- mitter for future programming procedures (Example: new vehicle purchases). Upon sale of the programmed HomeLinkT Universal Transceiver buttons should be erased for security purposes. For additional information refer to (cid:147)Program- ming HomeLinkT(cid:148) later in this section.

PROGRAMMING HOMELINKT 1. To begin, press and hold the two outer HomeLinkT buttons (to clear the memory) until the indicator light s1 blinks (after 20
seconds). Release both buttons.

4. Hold down both buttons until the indicator light on the HomeLinkT flashes, changing from a (cid:147)slow blink(cid:148) to a (cid:147)rapidly flashing blink(cid:148). This could take up to 90 seconds. When the indicator light flashes rapidly, both buttons may be released. The rapidly flash- ing light indicates successful programming. To activate the garage door or other pro- grammed device, press and hold the pro- grammed HomeLinkT button (cid:151) releasing when the device begins to activate. If the indicator light on the HomeLinkT blinks rapidly for 2 seconds and then turns solid, HomeLinkT has picked up a (cid:147)rolling code(cid:148) garage door opener signal. You will need to proceed with the next steps to train the HomeLinkT to complete the programming which may require a ladder and another per- son for convenience.

This button is usually located near the antenna wire that hangs down from the motor. If the wire originates from under a light lens, you will need to remove the lens to access the program button.

Within 30 seconds of pressing and releas- ing the garage door opener program button, quickly and firmly press and release the HomeLinkT button you(cid:146)ve just programmed. Press and release the HomeLinkT button up to 3 times to complete the training.

PROGRAMMING HOMELINKT FOR CANADIAN CUSTOMERS Prior to 1992, D.O.C. regulations required hand- held transmitters to stop transmitting after 2 sec- onds. To program your hand-held transmitter to HomeLinkT, continue to press and hold the HomeLinkT button (note steps 2 - 4 under (cid:147)Pro- gramming HomeLinkT(cid:148)) while you press and re- press ((cid:147)cycle(cid:148)) your hand-held transmitters every 2 seconds until the indicator light flashes rapidly (indicating successful programming).

NOTE: When programming a garage door opener, etc., it is advised to unplug the device dur- ing the (cid:147)cycling(cid:148) process to prevent pos- sible damage to the garage door opener components. OPERATING THE HOMELINKT UNIVERSAL TRANSCEIVER The HomeLinkT Universal Transceiver (once pro- grammed) may now be used to activate the ga- rage door, etc. To operate, simply press the ap- propriate programmed HomeLinkT Universal Transceiver button. The red indicator light will illuminate while the signal is being transmitted.

CLEARING THE PROGRAMMED INFORMATION Individual buttons cannot be cleared. However, to clear all programming, press and hold the two outside buttons and release when the indicator light begins to flash (approximately 20 seconds). REPROGRAMMING A SINGLE HOMELINKT BUTTON To reprogram a HomeLinkT Universal Transceiver button, complete the following. 1. Press and hold the desired HomeLinkT but- ton. Do not release the button until step 4
has been completed.

2. 3. 4. A key number plate is supplied with your keys. Record the key number and keep it in a safe place (such as your wallet), not in the vehicle. If you lose your keys, see a NISSAN dealer for duplicates by using the key number. NISSAN does not record key numbers so it is very important to keep track of your key number plate.

cause the registration process will erase the memory of all key codes previously registered into the NISSAN Vehicle Immobilizer System. After the registration process, these components will only recognize keys coded into the NISSAN Vehicle Immobilizer System during registration. Any key that is not given to your dealer at the time of registration will no longer be able to start your vehicle. Do not allow the immobilizer system key, which contains an electrical transponder, to come into contact with salt water. This could affect system function.

A key number is only necessary when you have lost all keys and do not have one to duplicate from. If you still have a key, your NISSAN dealer can duplicate it. NISSAN VEHICLE IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM KEYS You can only drive your vehicle using the master or valet keys which are registered to the NISSAN Vehicle Immobilizer System components in your vehicle. These keys have a transponder chip in the key head.

The master key can be used for all the locks.

The valet key cannot be used for the glove box lock.

To protect belongings when you leave a key with someone, give them the valet key only. Never leave these keys in the vehicle. Additional or replacement keys: If you still have a key, the key number is not necessary when you need extra NISSAN Vehicle Immobilizer System keys. Your dealer can dupli- cate your existing key. As many as five NISSAN Vehicle Immobilizer System keys can be used with one vehicle. You should bring all NISSAN Vehicle Immobilizer System keys that you have to your NISSAN dealer for registration. c Always have the doors locked while driving. Along with the use of seat belts, this provides greater safety in the event of an accident by helping to prevent persons from being thrown from the vehicle. This also helps keep children and others from unintentionally open- ing the doors, and will help keep out intruders.

c Before opening any door, always look

for and avoid oncoming traffic.

c Do not leave children unattended inside the vehicle. They could unknowingly ac- tivate switches or controls. Unattended children could become involved in seri- ous accidents.

LOCKING WITH KEY The power door lock system allows you to lock or unlock all doors at the same time. Turning the key toward the front s1 of the vehicle locks all doors. Turning the key one time toward the rear s2 of the vehicle unlocks that door. From that position, returning the key to neutral s3 (where the key can only be removed and inserted) and turning it toward the rear again within 5 seconds unlocks all doors s4 .

LOCKING WITH INSIDE LOCK KNOB To lock the door without the key, move the inside lock knob to the lock position s1 , then close the door. To unlock the door without the key, move the inside lock knob to the unlock position s2 .

Lockout protection When the power door lock switch (driver(cid:146)s or front passenger(cid:146)s side) is moved to the lock position with the key in the ignition and any door open, all doors will lock and unlock automatically. This helps to prevent the keys from being acci- dently locked inside the vehicle.

When locking the door this way, be certain not to leave the key inside the vehicle. CHILD SAFETY REAR DOOR LOCK Child safety locks help prevent the rear doors from being opened accidentally, especially when small children are in the vehicle. The child safety lock levers are located on the edge of the rear doors. When the lever is in the lock position, the door can be opened only from the outside.

Listed below are conditions or occur- rences which will damage the keyfob: c Do not allow the keyfob to become wet. c Do not drop the keyfob. c Do not strike the keyfob sharply against

another object.

c Do not place the keyfob for an extended period in an area where temperatures exceed 140(cid:176)F (60(cid:176)C).

If a keyfob is lost or stolen, NISSAN rec- ommends erasing the ID code of that key- fob. This will prevent the keyfob from un- authorized use to unlock the vehicle. For information regarding the erasing proce- dure, please contact a NISSAN dealer.

REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM

It is possible to lock/unlock all doors, turn on the interior lights, and activate the panic alarm by using the keyfob from outside the vehicle.

Some settings for the keyfob, such as horn beep, can be adjusted. For vehicles without navigation system, refer to (cid:147)Silencing the horn beep feature(cid:148) later in this section. For vehicles with navigation system, refer to (cid:147)Vehicle electronic systems(cid:148) in the (cid:147)Display screen, heater, air conditioner and audio systems(cid:148) section later in this manual. Be sure to remove the key from the vehicle before locking the doors.

The keyfob can operate at a maximum distance of approximately 33 ft (10 m) from the vehicle. The effective distance depends upon the conditions around the vehicle.

As many as 5 keyfobs can be used with one vehicle. For information concerning the purchase and use of additional keyfobs, contact a NISSAN dealer.

The keyfob will not function when: c the battery is discharged. c the distance between the vehicle and the

keyfob is over 33 ft (10 m).

The panic alarm will not activate when the key is in the ignition switch.

Using the panic alarm If you are near your vehicle and feel threatened, you may activate the panic alarm to call attention by pushing and holding the button on the keyfob for longer than 0.5 second. The panic alarm and headlights will stay on for 25
seconds. The panic alarm stops when: c it has run for 25 seconds, or c any button is pushed on the keyfob.

Silencing the horn beep feature If desired, the horn beep feature can be deacti- vated using the keyfob.

NOTE: If you change the horn beep and lamp flash feature with the keyfob, the display screen (if so equipped) will not show the current mode and cannot be used to change the mode. Use the keyfob to return to the pre- vious mode and re-enable the display screen control.

c If you see steam or smoke coming from the engine compartment, to avoid injury do not open the hood.

c Always be sure the lift gate has been closed securely to prevent it from open- ing while driving.

c Do not drive with the lift gate open. This could allow dangerous exhaust gases to be drawn into the vehicle. See (cid:147)Ex- haust gas(cid:148) in the (cid:147)Starting and driving(cid:148) section of this manual.

c Make sure that all passengers have their hands, etc., inside the vehicle be- fore closing the lift gate.

LIFT GATE RELEASE If the lift gate cannot be locked or unlocked with the door lock switch or the keyfob due to a discharged battery, follow these steps: 1. Remove the cover on the inside of the lift

gate.

2. Move the lever up to lock or down to unlock.

OPENING THE FUEL-FILLER LID The fuel-filler lid automatically unlocks when all doors are unlocked. 1. Unlock the fuel-filler lid using one of the

following operations. c Unlock all doors with the keyfob. c Unlock all doors with the key. c Press the power door lock switch to the

unlock position.

FUEL-FILLER CAP The fuel-filler cap is a ratcheting type. Turn the cap counterclockwise to remove. To tighten, turn the cap clockwise until ratcheting clicks are heard. Put the fuel-filler cap on the cap holder s1 while refueling.

CAUTION

c If fuel is spilled on the vehicle body, flush it away with water to avoid paint damage.

WARNING

c Gasoline is extremely flammable and highly explosive under certain condi- tions. You could be burned or seriously injured if it is misused or mishandled. Always stop the engine and do not smoke or allow open flames or sparks near the vehicle when refueling.

c Fuel may be under pressure. Turn the cap a third of a turn, and wait for any (cid:147)hissing(cid:148) sound to stop to prevent fuel from spraying out and possibly causing personal injury. Then remove the cap.

c Do not attempt to top off the fuel tank after the fuel pump nozzle shuts off automatically. Continued refueling may cause fuel overflow, resulting in fuel spray and possibly a fire.

c Use only an original equipment type fuel-filler cap as a replacement. It has a built-in safety valve needed for proper operation of the fuel system and emis- sion control system. An incorrect cap can result in a serious malfunction and possible injury. It could also cause the malfunction indicator light to come on. c Never pour fuel into the throttle body to

attempt to start your vehicle.

c Tighten until the fuel-filler cap clicks. Failure to tighten the fuel-filler cap mal- properly may cause the function indicator light (MIL) to illumi- nate. If the light illuminates be- cause the fuel-filler cap is loose or missing, tighten or install the cap and to continue vehicle. The light should turn off after a

AUTOMATIC DRIVE POSITIONER (if so equipped)

The automatic drive positioner system has two features: c Memory storage function c Entry/exit function

3. Adjust

the driver(cid:146)s seat, accelerator and brake pedals, and outside mirrors to the desired positions by manually operating each adjusting switch. For additional infor- mation, see (cid:147)Seats(cid:148) in the (cid:147)Safety(cid:151)Seats, seat belts and supplemental restraint sys- tem(cid:148) section and (cid:147)Pedal position adjust- ment(cid:148) and (cid:147)Outside mirrors(cid:148) earlier in this section. During this step, do not turn the ignition to any position other than ON.

4. Push the SET switch and, within 5 seconds, push the memory switch (1 or 2) fully for at least 1 second. The indicator light for the pushed memory switch will come on and stay on for approxi- mately 5 seconds after pushing the switch. After the indicator light goes off, the se- lected positions are stored in the selected memory (1 or 2).

If a new memory is stored in the same memory switch, the previous memory will be deleted. Linking a keyfob to a stored memory position Each keyfob can be linked to a stored memory position (memory switch 1 or 2) with the follow- ing procedure. 1. Follow the steps for storing a memory position.

MEMORY STORAGE FUNCTION Two positions for the driver(cid:146)s seat, accelerator and brake pedals, and outside mirrors can be stored in the automatic drive positioner memory. Follow these procedures to use the memory sys- tem.

1. Set the automatic transmission selector le-

ver to the P (Park) position.

2. Turn the ignition ON.

2. While the indicator light for the memory switch being set is illuminated for 5 sec- onds, press the button on the keyfob. The indicator light will blink. After the indica- tor light goes off, the keyfob is linked to that memory setting.

With the key removed from the ignition switch, press the button on the keyfob. The driv- er(cid:146)s seat, accelerator and brake pedals, and out- side mirrors will move to the memorized position.

NOTE:

If a new memory position is saved to the memory switch, the keyfob automatically re-links. Confirming memory storage c Turn the ignition ON and push the SET switch. If the main memory has not been stored, the indicator light will come on for approximately 0.5 seconds. When the memory has stored the position, the indica- tor light will stay on for approximately 5 sec- onds.

c If the battery cable is disconnected, or if the fuse opens, the memory will be canceled. In such a case, reset the desired positions using the following procedures.

1. Open and close the driver(cid:146)s door more than two times with the ignition key in the LOCK position.

2. Reset the desired position using the previ-

ous procedure.

Selecting the memorized position Set the automatic transmission selector lever to the P (Park) position, then: c Within 45 seconds of opening the driver(cid:146)s door, push the memory switch (1 or 2) fully for at least 1 second, or

c Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and push the memory switch (1 or 2) fully for at least 1 second.

The driver(cid:146)s seat, accelerator and brake pedals, and outside mirrors will move to the memorized position with the indicator light blinking, and then the light will stay on for approximately 5 seconds. ENTRY/EXIT FUNCTION This system is designed so that the driver(cid:146)s seat will automatically move when the automatic transmission selector lever is in the P (Park) position. This allows the driver to get into and out of the driver(cid:146)s seat more easily.

The driver(cid:146)s seat will slide backward: c When the key is removed from the ignition

switch and the driver(cid:146)s door is opened.

c When the driver(cid:146)s door is opened with the

ignition key turned to LOCK.

c When the ignition key is turned from ACC to

LOCK with the driver(cid:146)s door open.

The driver(cid:146)s seat will return to the previous posi- tion: c When the key is inserted into the ignition

switch and the driver(cid:146)s door is closed.

c When the driver(cid:146)s door is closed with the key

turned to LOCK.

c When the key is turned from ACC to ON while the automatic transmission selector lever is in the P (Park) position.

The entry/exit function can be adjusted or can- celed. pushed and held for at least 1 second.

c When the seat has been already moved to

the memorized position.

c When no seat position is stored in the

memory switch.

c When the automatic transmission selector lever is moved from P (Park) to any other position.

c When the driver(cid:146)s door remains open more than 45 seconds and the ignition switch is not in the ON position.

When a spare tire is mounted or a wheel is replaced, tire pressure will not be indi- cated and the low tire pressure warning system will not function. Contact your NISSAN dealer as soon as possible for tire replacement and/or system resetting.

Pressure indication in ** psi on the screen indi- cates that the pressure is being measured. After a few driving trips, the pressure for each tire will be displayed randomly.

HOW TO USE THE (cid:147)SETTING(cid:148) BUTTON To adjust the various settings within the display screen press the(cid:147)SETTING(cid:148) button. After pressing the (cid:147)SETTING(cid:148) button a menu will be shown on the display screen which will allow you to program several functions such as the display screen appearance, programmable fea- tures for your vehicles electronics system and other system settings such as your clock. To make a selection from this mode use the joystick and press the (cid:147)ENTER(cid:148) button.

SETTING THE DISPLAY (Audio or HVAC display): The audio or HVAC reading can be displayed at the bottom of the screen. Choose the (cid:147)Audio(cid:148) or (cid:147)HVAC(cid:148) (Heater and air conditioner) key to be displayed at the bottom, by using the joystick and pressing the ENTER button to select or deselect the key. The setting condition will normally appear on the screen. To return to the setting screen, push the (cid:147)SETTING(cid:148) button or (cid:147)PREV(cid:148) button. Display settings The DISPLAY SETTINGS screen will appear af- ter pushing the (cid:147)SETTING(cid:148) button, selecting (cid:147)Display(cid:148) key and pushing the (cid:147)ENTER(cid:148) but- ton. Brightness/Contrast/Map Background: To adjust the brightness and contrast of the screen, select the (cid:147)Brightness/contrast(cid:148) key and push the (cid:147)ENTER(cid:148) button. You can then use the joystick to adjust the brightness to Darker or Brighter and the contrast to Lower or Higher. For information on Map Background, please refer to the separate Navigation System Owner(cid:146)s Manual.

Display Off: To turn off the screen, push the (cid:147)SETTING(cid:148) button and select the (cid:147)Display(cid:148) key and (cid:147)Dis- play Off(cid:148) key. The indicator of the (cid:147)Display Off(cid:148) will turn to amber. When any mode button is pushed with the screen off, the screen turns on for further operation. The screen will turn off automatically 5 seconds after the operation is finished on the map display in the Audio, HVAC (Heater and air conditioner), SETTING or VE- HICLE INFO modes. To turn on the screen, push the (cid:147)SETTING(cid:148) button and select the (cid:147)Display(cid:148) key and (cid:147)Dis- play Off(cid:148) key, then set the screen to on by pushing the (cid:147)ENTER(cid:148) button.
