X Drive to the nearest qualified specialist workshop. X Avoid heavy loads on the engine as you do so, e.g. driving in

mountainous terrain and stop-start traffic.

The coolant temperature has exceeded 120 †. The airflow to the engine radiator may be blocked or the coolant level may be too low. G WARNING The engine is not being cooled sufficiently and may be damaged. Never drive with an overheated engine. Driving when your engine is overheated can cause some fluids which may have leaked into the engine compartment to catch fire. Steam from an overheated engine can cause serious burns, which can occur just by opening the bonnet. There is a risk of injury. X Observe the additional display messages in the multifunction

display.

Driving systems Problem

· The red distance warn- ing lamp lights up while the vehicle is in motion.

· The red distance warn- ing lamp lights up while the vehicle is in motion. A warning tone also sounds.

Possible causes/consequences and M Solutions The distance to the vehicle in front is too small for the speed selected. X Increase the distance.

You are approaching a vehicle or a stationary obstacle in your line of travel at too high a speed. X Be prepared to brake immediately. X Pay careful attention to the traffic situation. You may have to

brake or take evasive action.

Tyres Problem

The yellow tyre pres- sure monitor warning lamp is on.

Possible causes/consequences and M Solutions The tyre pressure monitor has detected a loss of pressure in at least one of the tyres. G WARNING With tyre pressures which are too low, there is a risk of the fol- lowing hazards: Rthe tyres may burst, especially as the load and vehicle speed

increase.

Rthe tyres may wear excessively and/or unevenly, which may

greatly impair tyre traction.

Rthe driving characteristics, as well as steering and braking, may

be greatly impaired. There is a risk of an accident.

X Stop the vehicle without making any sudden steering or braking manoeuvres. Pay attention to the traffic conditions as you do so.

X Secure the vehicle against rolling away (Y page 172). X Observe the additional display messages in the multifunction

display.

X If there is a flat tyre, inspect the tyres (Y page 546). X Check the tyre pressure (Y page 568). X If necessary, correct the tyre pressure.

Useful information

i These Operating Instructions describe all

the standard and optional equipment of your COMAND Online system, as available at the time of going to print. Country-spe- cific differences are possible. Please note that your COMAND Online system may not be equipped with all the features descri- bed. This is also the case for systems and functions relevant to safety.

i Read the information on qualified special-

ist workshops: (Y page 38).

Operating safety Important safety notes G WARNING Your attention must always be focused on the traffic conditions. Only use COMAND Online or the telephone when the road and traffic conditions permit. Bear in mind that, at a speed of only 50 km/h, your vehicle covers a distance of nearly 14 m per second. The navigation sys- tem does not provide you with information about stop signs, give way signs, traffic regu- lations or road safety features. It is up to you to pay attention to these while driving the vehicle. Only enter a new destination when the vehicle is stationary.

Declarations of conformity Wireless vehicle components The following information applies to all com- ponents of the vehicle and the COMAND Online system which receive and/or transmit radio waves: The components of this vehicle which receive and/or transmit radio waves are compliant with the basic requirements and other rele- vant provisions of Directive 1999/5/EC. You

can obtain further information from a Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.

Electromagnetic compatibility The electromagnetic compatibility of the vehi- cle components has been tested and approved in accordance with Directive 72/245/EEC or the equivalent ECE-R 10 reg- ulation, in their current respective valid ver- sion.
