Heaps of stuff for FB/EK, a spare HJ grill, some stromberg single barrel carbs, X2 manifold, Finned rocker cover for a red motor, Triple SU w/ manifold, some trim bits from an FE/FC.. Bumper and overriders for a '53 Buick..

Used to have a finned twin manifold for a grey motor, as well as a finned rocker cover for a grey but swapped that for my X2 and finned cover for a red.

Also got heaps of 1940 Chev parts under my bench..

Hey Phil,

Just use the drum front end, and swap the drums for Kingswood discs like we've done wink.gif Unless he wants HR rotors and all that.. then.. keep lookin aha. We sold a set not long ago too tongue.gif

racerphill
Post #18

That sounds like the go!

...what's involved with the swap to Kingswood discs?
Which model discs do you use, and do they just bolt on, or do they need some machining?

Phil,

We used HZ on my EK, not sure on my Brothers HR though.. probably around HJ - HZ. We just took the HR discs out at the ball joints, and put the Kingswood ones back in. Although make a note of which one is left and right on the Kingswood, because they have to be reversed on the HR / EK.

Other than that.. he'll need to get either a Kingswood diff and have it shortened, or get the axle holes welded and redrilled to suit Kingswood stud pattern.

Thats all we know so far.. haven't gotten to the rear ends yet. My Brothers HR is using a Gemini Booster as well.. and Dad had to make up a big mount because it didn't fit on the firewall next to the bonnet hinges and clutch cylinder.. so if your mate already has the VH40 booster.. use that and if it needs rebuilding get it rebuilt.. Dads regretting selling our one originally because it needed a $300 odd dollar rebuild.

Discs are definitely the way....My HR has Torana brakes on the front...done before I got it and Im glad for no drums to be honest...having said that,I had 4 wheel drums on my Val and they worked pretty well,considering.....Ive gone late pattern stubs on that now and 4 pot Landcruiser calipers,to stop the supercharged slant(once its back on the road)
You will still be able to use the later discs with no booster if need be but will be WAY better with one obviously...I ran non boosted discs on my HQ for a while and the only downside was a larger calf muscle on my left leg biggrin.gif

Selling it to move to Japan. Coming back and I'll either buy another one, or possibly a MR2 as a track-only car.
