Hi guys I'm new to the forum, I have had a decent bit of experience with car audio, but I have just come into a problem I've nver heard of before.

I have a Toyota Hiace with, Pioneer DEH-P4050 Headunit
Pioneer 2ch 760W amp (powering 2 Pioneer 12in subs)
Fusion PowerPlant 4ch 800W amp (speakers)
Kicker 6 in Splits (front)
Kenwood 6in 3-ways (rear)

I am getting bad static through the speakers with the ignition on, then once the car is started the static goes alot louder and goes very high pitched, and rises with the engine revs. The bloke at the shop where I bought the gear from was able to reduce it significantly by slpicing a wire into the negative side of the RCA preouts and running off to an earth. But the noise was still noticable. I jave since replaced the RCA leads with quality sheilded ones, and have changed the earths on the amp and headunit, this made no difference.

I have also tried swapping the amps, I tried it with a crappy old Altec 4ch and the noise was still there, then I tried an old Kenwood KAC-923 2ch amp (4 speakers bridged), which worked perfectly no problems. Then I re-tried both the Altec and the Fusion 4ch with both I still got the high pitch noise.

I am all outta ideas, can anyone help me ?

I really want to run the speakers off the Fusion 4ch.

Cheers

Poor earth for your amp.
the aim of the game is to get as little resistance as possible, less welds to pass through, less paint to go through.
scrape paint away of contact point, find a GOOD place on the body of the car.
I don't know why your audio person didn't tell you this before, or maybe he did and you haven't written it.

He did tell me that and as I told him, I have moved the earth to different points on the body, all clean as and there was no difference. Although I never checked resistance with a DMM, so will do that and try another earth point.

could try adding earths to your battery and the cars engine

if not it could be inside the amp or head unit

Richard
ps:and earth upgrade kit could also help the chargeing system and power.

Pioneer headunit you say?

I'll put money on it being blown RCA earth tracks in the headunit.

If you've got access to one, try swapping the headunit with something different, you'll likely find your problem will disappear.

My first thoughts, but maybe not. Try a headunit swap, you never know.

if its a pioneer - definately try a different unit and see how it goes - its a common thing hey.

Try all the little tricks -
Power leads and RCA's down opposite sides of the car
Earth the RCA's (sounds like this has been done already)
ake sure your earth cable from the amp is as properly connected and can flow the same current as your power cable.

ive found that 90% of issues with engine noise are installation problems, NOT faulty gear. Out of the 10% that ARE faulty gear, 90% of it is pioneer head units haha...

Its easy to cook RCA outputs/inputs by connecting and disconnecting them while the system is powered - id say that is whats happened.

right on the money, but something caused it in the first place....
i would be tripple checking earthing before swapping the head unit

make sure that you RCA's and power, are on the opposite side of the car, I have found from working at jbhifi and now being a apprentice mechanic that a lot of static nosie can be cause by RCA and power cables next to each other.

I would start with that
