Anyways, I had a few questions to ask, how do i turn off the 4WD light in my dash, wont turn off?? does anyone have any problems wit GTR gearbox/transmission? cause my 1 is much louder once it hits 4gear.. and da transmission in general is noisy. I live in melb, does ne1 no of a place where i can take it 2 get it lookd at and if possible get it roadworthy? I have to get a roadworthy, as i bought it at a auction. U guys would never guess how much i picked it up 4!.....hmmm... $14,750! dunno wat u guys think but i reckon dats a bargain! |

Sounds like you might have some work cut out for yourself, under 15k is nuts. QUOTE(kay nock @ Mar 6 2007, 10:31 PM) da car has only done just a tad over 60,000kms..btw Km's on an import can't be trusted ![]() QUOTE(kay nock @ Mar 6 2007, 10:31 PM) u no how auctions go...u get a gem once and awhile. i guess i just got lucky! I'll say, I saw a written off GTR go for 12k, and it was broken into, stolen and trashed.

Btw - a motor that's spent its life idling in traffic polishing the bores is going to be worse off than a motor that actually got used. |

Well it's always the way when you buy an import, always a risk, even buying from a dealer here. |

QUOTE(frankxinyu @ Mar 7 2007, 01:52 AM) congrats mate. however, things can go either way from here. there is a chance the ks can be genuine, do you have the original export documents from japan to prove it? do you have the orginal de-rego paper or auction paper? if not, it is very unlikely for a 17 years old car to have that little ks on it. what condition is the car in? any mods on the engine? done a compression test on the motor? has the car previously been boy-raced or flogged? very often, getting the oil pressure reading can give u an indication of how healthy the engine is as well. so what is the reading on the gauge? transmission generally is a problem, syncros can be worn quite quickly....quite often after the car has had a hard life, 3rd and 4th gears are the first two to go... when it fails, rebuild the box using PPG gears or Os Giken gear sets, you will be set for a while. a decent box rebuilt using aftermarket gear sets can cost 5-8 grand easily. maintaining a GTR is VERY VERY expensive. so be prepared sorry did not try to be mean, just stating facts here. I agree with the above .. they arent your everyday V8 commordores !.. treat them well they are good thrash them they bite back twice as hard.. by the way .. since you own the car now .. . be prepared for things breaking .. A 32 GTR with genuine ks (export documents etc) would fetch more then some R33 Series 2 models .. either way they are awsome cars enjoy it responsbly !! |

Even with the auction papers Frank there is a chance the Odo has been tampered with ... Don't think for one second that the Japanese car dealers are anymore honorable then a local second hand dealer ... Also sounds like that gearbox is going to lose it's 4th gear ... The cheapest I've heard of new GT-R boxes is around 3600 ... |

Generally if something is going cheap there is something wrong with it ... In two years of owning my R33 I've only ever spent money on CV boots (which commonly go on most Skylines) and I might be up for coil packs ... The rest of my money is on mods ... So buying one that has records and is well maintained; while it might cost you a bit extra on the initial purchase price it will save you further on down the road ... |
