I've heard it can be as little as $700 for syncros and just checking the insides and all the way up to $3000 for a complete do over.

A good 2nd box usually starts at around $1500. If it's under $1k, I wouldn't even look at it.

What you do to it?

I got a box for my old VL, cost me $1400 cash from barsby's holden wreckers in Maryborough. Got it fitted for $250 by a mate cause i am a lazy fuck. People say I was ripped but my sister's fiance paid $1900 and had it fitted by mechanics for $750, so i don't think i did too bad.

i'd rather a vl over a r31 anyday even the import r31's are ghey

a mate of mine goofy is currently putting a r32 gtst skyline 5 speed into his vl (used to be auto) he's having a few problems with the conversion but its costing him no where near $1500 and the box has only done 30 000km's

speedo won't hook up and a few other things are giving him a few probs

I dont know if this is any help to you but...

Since iv had my R31 id had to go for 2 box's

first one i fried the syn from 1st to 2nd

2nd one i chewed though the bearings....

i found it was cheaper to just get a 2nd hand one, thoe if i spend the extra the first time round i dont think i would of gone though the bearings yet, having said that to replace a box yourself your looking at about 8 hours working under the car in your yard... for the first time anyways if you know what your doing 2/3 hours?

2ndly its a kunt of a job with out the right equipment, by this i mean,

a proper workshop biggrin.gif

id recomend get someone to reco it for you if you can afford it thoe itll cost about $1200.00 new bearings and sync's *i think* dont quote me

hope it all works out!
