sup car audio dudes

my headdeck is cuttin in and out, and its only been happening last month or 2

doesnt happen all the time, but its pissin me off. all my settings on the headeck stay the same wen it comes back in after cuttin out, so i cant understand wat it is? cos if it was something big like power supply, wuldnt the settings reset each time it cuts out?

could it be the earth is loose or like acid buildup around the battery terminals???

help plz dudes

Have u got a power cable directly from the battery do ya?

Its most likely ya earth.

Who installed it? Were all your wires soldered and taped? or was it dodge style?

Could also be a blown safety fuse.. one of my old ones did this.... warmed up and cut when it was getting too hot... my old amp did the same thing way back when smile.gif

i know all conflicting stories smile.gif

The headunit in Brutis(1) cuts out because it has some sort of magical voltage sensor and because the regulator on the alternator of Brutis is stuffed, when the altenator is running above ~2500rpm, the supplied voltage is way above 13.8V, so as a safety it cuts the radio out.

Probably not related, and I'll bet large sums of money its your earth or power supply thats rooted. Personally I suspect the power because if it was ground you would more than likely loose your settings because the constant power wire (usually yellow) is needed to keep settings over long periods of time. Depends how long it cuts out for I guess.

if it aint getting enough power it may switch of for about 2 seconds or so (all stereos different). usually this will be at idle when the stereo is cranking hard!!!.

ummm the most common cause to all electrical problems is earth. the recent rain may haved caused a dodgy earth connection or something, or a loose connection just check all around it. poke in there with a multimeter or something.

Off topic a little bit, but on one of my amps (a 4x100w), one channel (the front left) has stopped working completely.  Does each channel have separate fuses?  And should it be cheap and/or easy to fix?

Usually they have a fuse for "front & back" but if its only one chanel then I'm guessing this isn't the problem. Have u checked that its not your RCA leads or its not the front left chanel of your head unit, if not check these things first. If it does come back to the amp there is a good chance that its fucked and unless its a real expensive amp or under warranty I wouldn't bother, this doesn't mean that its not going to be a simple prob with your amp and you should still get it checked out but more likley its stuffed

could be your accesories wire which is used to turn the unit on. Also a sharp drop in voltage can lead to cut out cause the unit won't turn on or stay on cause the voltage has dropped below the minimum required voltage to turn it on. See if the accessories wire isnt on the same circuit as another commonly used part of electrics like brake lights or your indicators. If it is it can cut out when ur brake lights light up or something so run an acc wire from a relay or sumthin. otherwise check ur earth like everyone else says.

umm decks dont lose their settings straight away. You have to disconnect the power for like 30 seconds or so otherwise they dont lose their settings....

i put my money on earth.. and also make sure none of the speaker wire's are shorting out, mine was cuttin in and out like this and all it was, was a speaker to close to the speaker and i'd hit a bump and they'd hit and the head unti would shut down.. it a protection thing that most have, took me months to figure it out

heeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyy sup cutie (ok jsut watched rush hour 2 again. my bad?)

OK, i worked out wat is was.

i guess we were all technically right when we sed it was the earth but it kinda wasnt too!

the big plug sucker of a thing that has the million different wires going into the back of the headeck (above the fuse on my sony xplod deck), was plugged in but when i unplugged it i found out that 2 of the little metal prong thingys were bent and not slotting in properly (which explained why when i moved the deck around a bit it came in and out)... if memory serves me correct, it was the black earth and the red power wires that had bent prongs...

anywayz, jsut straightened them and its all aiight!

anyone guessed that this wulda been the cause?

can happen from wire rubbing on the body of the car or door trip who know?

anyways iv had problems with rca rubbing on the body, speaker wire, and also not have the right fuse, its not to hard to work out whats doing it just takes the time to check all your wires thats all, also diffrent head decks do act diffrently to diffrent problems, so i would put aside a few hours and check all your wireless make a new earth for the head deck and change all your fuses, im sure youll find something, and if that dont fix it, id say its your head deck!

Best of luck

Wiggle the face around. Mine cuts out sometimes too and its because the face loses connection when i go over bumps, or even small pebbles as the shocks are original '81s

i had the same problem when i had an old battery that wouldn't charge to well in my car, everything seemed ok, but my head deck kept cutting out and not losing the settings when it came back, i put a new battery in and it was all good
