hi,

i am just wondering about engine fault codes for a 91 toyota soarer.

There are 2 messages that flash up on the digital display. When translated to english they come up as:

- Engine Electrical System

and the second message just says:

- ABS

just wondering what may be the problem... i know ABS is obvious.. but what exactly.

Thanks... the car seems to run fine so i dunno how serious they are.. have had car for like a month nearly and no probs thus far.. but it still annoying having error messages... also...

when u boot it off the line and you get a vibration under the car.. would that be a gearbox or tailshaft problem... possibly a worn centre bearing? its only if u boot it from the line.. its fine booting it when ur already moving so yeh i dunno..

hope someone here knows what i can/should do, thanks

abs my guess would be one of the sensors!!! usually located at the front hubs or on the back the diff or hubs. they look like cogs and will have a little senser close by them.

the other one could me manya things. cant help you there sorry.

viberation. yeah all of what you said or gearbox mounts, or even engine mounts, an autotrans service will usually make a car smoother but probley wont fix ya problem.

try unbolting tail shaft and turn it 90 degrees see if anything changes

Yeah with the ABS just boot it, and the jump on the brakes, see if it locks up, if it doesnt ignore the prob, if it locks up, then you prob just need the sensores cleaned or something.

yeh the brakes seem really good, so the ABS dont worry me too muchly.. the jap error that translates to: Engine Electrical System is more concerning cuz like.. wtf does that mean

probably just a sensor somewhere under the bonnet, if your really worried take it to a mechanic and he'll hook up a computer to your cars efi(i dun no shit about a soarers efi system but i'm guessing it can't be that much different from any other cars efi) find out what the problem is exactly then charge some $$$$ to fix it

Go to Australian Lexus Soarer Club, and register in their forums. http://www.lexus.australia.as/entry.htm They seem to know everything about Soarer's and are a really helpful bunch in general.
