Can you have a tank of oxy in the boot and inject pure oxygen into the carby/manifold/air intake? Is it legal? Is it a good way to increase performance? Or should I just give in to my urges and wack on some NoS when i get a car?

Cheers,

lol it would be a mad idea if it were possible, would be better than NO2 but the amount of oxygen an engine needs is extremly huge for example a 6 cyl car needs approx 350-500 or so cubic feet of air per minute and a stock V8 anywhere from 450-1000 cfm you'd just need a really huge O2 tank which would be heavy and probably bigger than your car

works in theory but not in practise a filter which filters out everything from the air except pure oxygen would have the same effect but they don't exist either

scrud no that's not what NO2 does

Or, you could put a blower vac on your car. It seriously works, stuffes the engine, but it does work.

injecting pure oxygen into the combustion chamber will make your car explode smile.gif your insane, please dont do it unless you dont want your car smile.gif

Nitrous is used as it has to dissociate into nitrogen and oxygen first before the oxygen can combine with fuel. this dissociation occurs due to the high temperatures involved in the combustion chamber, so you get the extra oxygen after the combustion process has started. oxygen on the other hand due to its extremely low energy of activation will most likely combust as soon as it mixes with the fuel, ie in the intake manifold and not in the chamber. so NO its not a good idea!!!!

To answer the question even further, n2o burns cooler also

Pure oxygen burns pretty fucking hot and is liable to explode and / or melt your engine

This is only required for LARGE amounts of Nitrous. If your planning on putting on a 50HP for your car, only thing you REALLY need to get is hotter range of spark plugs. Otherwise, yes, meltdown as I have experienced.

Yea, I forget which ones. Which is why I melted mine, I'm sure.
