Hey guys,

A little help if anyone has dealt with this stuff before?

I bought a 2008 Triton, 3.5l petrol with LPG conversion in Brisbane, QLD

2 weeks ago. It is my first LPG vehicle so i didn't know i needed a "gas certificate" to register it in my name. The previous owner didn't provide one. It came with a RWC and i drove it around the block a few times, found the clutch needed to be replaced soon so i drove him down on price a bit to cover the cost. All said and done i drove away in the ute. 10 mins down the road, The engine light came on and the temp gauge was through the roof, I called the dude i bought it from and he assured me it was an issue he had fixed already and it's nothing to worry about (at this point i'm quite suss) but i gave him the benefit of the doubt. I took the ute to an LPG mechanic in town where i live and had him check over it to find out if i'd bought a lemon or not? he said all is well except the rocker cover leaks oil onto the exhaust (not roadworthy, but could've passed if old mate cleaned the oil off and the roadworthy guy couldn't see it) but the LPG tank is 2 years out of date (big no no). I followed up with the previous owner, explained it and got a quote to bring the ute to RWC standards so i can at least register it in my name. It took a bit but old mate sent me the $1400 to bring the ute to RWC standards. I drove the ute to work ( a job in Roma, 4 hours away) the temp gauge was playing up still but i didn't think anything of it. until on my way home it broke down leaking coolant out the overflow container. i got it towed to a mechanic only to find out it's head gasket or blown head.

At this point i still need a car for work but i am now $9000 out of pocket with a lemon stuck at a mechanic in Chinchilla.

Anyone been is a situation similar? I sent the previous owner a message to let him know what had happened and basically just want him to take the ute back and give me my money back. Naturally he doesn't want his lemon back so i'm going to have to take this further.

Any ideas?
