Post #1 post 23rd August 2006 - 09:17 PM
Just so the people who were interested in having Dale (10sec_rx7) tune their car, he is coming up first week of October. If you want him to tune it and need to have anything fixed / replaced then you have a little over 4 weeks to get it done.

I have a list of people who were interested from the last thread, and a few more additions since. He will only be here a week, and he doesn't intend to work that entire time as he wants to see what the Top End is all about, so send me a PM if you want further details or would like to put your name down.

When I speak with the w/shop that I'll hire the dyno through I'll be able to give you prices based on an hourly hire rate, and I'll do that through through PM or SMS.

That is all, thanks for your time.

Due to Dale's work commitments, Jambo and general getting on the piss behaviour I am looking to fly him up on Wednesday night, arrive Thursday morning (red eye flight - sorry babe) and he'll go back to Sydney on Sunday or Monday night. That will only give Dale 4 - 5 days in Darwin, and depending on previous setting in your ECU, will take 2ish hours to tune each car.

The following people expressed an interest so far:

BABY_GT
xxl_05
Taylz
Paulie
HYPO GEM
SLDEWYZ
20vpwr

I'll PM through a price to you lot by the end of the day, and then can you please confirm with me if you're still interested.

kthxbi

edit: Thread list is continually being updated.

As above, I remember a thread from a while ago that was a bit of a discussion on Dale and his previous tuning he had done, but couldn't find it with a quick search.

I know of a few people who may be interested but I would like to show them some previously tuned cars.

* Our (Dale's w/shop) LS2 is the quickest stock engine in the country with a 12.0
* Dale's LS1 is one of the quickest stock engines in the state with a 12.1
* ...we (Dale's w/shop) also have a few of the quickets stock driveline (diff gears, clutches, converters, engines etc) in the state.

SLDEWYZ and Killswitch you have PM with further information.

edit: Dale isn't representing his workshop (that will remain unnamed in this thread), he is coming up as my mate to tune my car. While he is here he has offered his time to help tune other cars who might be interested in what he has to offer. I am in no way giving his w/shop or where the cars will be tuned a free plug. As I have said, PM me for further details.

1 only admin can ban but I can however put the request in ... 2 if you can't have an adult discussion on a forum without turning it into a shitfight then you need to leave it. That was all I said in the other thread, don't alter or twist my words.

Seriously I'm not sure what the hard part is about that other topic ... you either YES want to be tuned by whoever this guy is (no offense to the person) or NO you don't.

Create another thread as you've just done and I can assure you your posting rights will be removed.
This car is running on the boostcruising drag day, looking forward to see it run.

Sorry but we were just trying to support local businesses, theres no harm in that is there.

As a small business owner myself i know how hard it is to keep up a good reputation and maintain a customer base, and it aint that easy, darwin is a small place.

There are a few tuning joints in Darwin and most have good reputations and understand the weather differences between here and there, not saying that dale doesnt.

Just may have seemed odd to a few ppl on this site what Phee is doing but that is her choice. I wish her luck with her tune.

Sorry but i'll be supporting local business.

Cheers Joe

That's fine and no one is not saying not to support your local guys ... my issue was creating a second thread for no reason and VLCT WALKY is aware of that.

You "CAN" discuss/debate/ask questions in this thread ... all I ask is you keep it civil, save the name calling for another forum and don't get personal smile.gif

Dale name rings a bell is he on performance forums ?

From the stuff that I have read he knows his stuff. Sent him my dyno charts of my WRX back then and gave me lots of feedback on the information and how it could of done better. Even rang me up to explain.

I for one have given a local tuner a number of chances to tune my car back then $900 bucks later the I was still not satisfy with my tune.

In the end I was frustrated and well broke. as good tune should only be done once only unless you have to add something to it. which i was not planning to do. Just drive the damn thing.

that being said I tried to wait for MRT to come up to Darwin, and it was like yeah talk talk and then it they finally came. I sold my car by then.

MRT came up to Did 12 cars from what I could remember, from WRX's to a Nissan 200sx. they would spends about the same time and what this Guy Dale would do, plus maybe a road tune.

So far I have not heard anything bad about the cars going bang from there last trip MRT did.
My only concern with Tuners coming Down South is like MRT you have to make it worth there while to come up. Which is fair there a business and need to make a profit not run at a loss.
When would MRT come up is still a mystery as some people want there cars done but well, it comes back to is it worth while for them ?

If I had my WRX I would certainly give Dale the opportunity to tune my car or MRT , as most local tuners don't tune it the way I want or the expected results that can be achieved from what others cars with similar mods had down south.

But as reputable as MRT may be you get the few stories that some customers are not satisfy, thats life.

If you happy with local tuners go for it if you want a tuner from down south go for it. In the end you decide where you want to put you hard earned money towards. I know which one I'll be leaning towards . biggrin.gif

Spoken about in MSN Jarred... warranty, you wont need it. but if you want an answer - no. Dale is doing it off his own back not for the w/shop he works for. If you fuck with the tune it will blow, if you don't it wont. Simple as that.

And im SORRY but im guna laugh like fuck when sumthn goes wrong!!

I don't know of any workshop that will offer a warranty on a tune... Thousands of cars go pop on dyno's every year through no fault of the operator or tuner. It's not like replacing a head gasket or something and offering a 3 month warranty, there are too many variables when tuning to give a guarantee. I mean, you could tune the car on 98 RON and the owner runs 91, who's fault is that? You could tune to run 8psi boost then the owner changes to 12psi.... who's fault? I can assure you when it goes back to the tuner it'll be "I never ran over 8psi, honest..."

A smart tuner will be slightly conservative and will take those sort of things into account, but at the end of the day he can't tune for EVERY condition.

I'm not saying the tuner is NOT responsible for the way he tunes your car, but good luck getting a warranty.

I know, but would you pay for the repolishing fee if one of your customers did it?
no....

bit like winding the boost up and needing to rebuild an engine/turbo...

*I may be drawing a long bow, but I think you get the idea.

SIKUNIT
Post #33

Well if this person that is winding the boost up doesnt realise that they need a re-tune and if they do know and delibretely deny it, then they shouldnt own a car!

All im saying is that a car tuned at a local shop that is in darwin and is honest about what they do (as i am with my panelwork and as are most of the tune shops i kno of) and the customer is honest about what went wrong with the car, would in my mind have some sort of guarantee or solution, not like a fly in which we prolly wont see or hear from for another 3-4 years, and personally think is a bit rude asking $165/hr with no guarantees.

Maybe i should increase my hourly rate as i use another blokes shop and tools too.
