When installing a child restraint system, follow the instructions provided by its manufacturer. Depending on the type of your child re- straint system, you will need a locking clip to install a child restraint system properly. If your child restraint system does not provide a locking clip, you can purchase one at your Toyota dealer. (See “—Child restraint system” on page 50.)
CAUTION
D Extreme Hazard! Do not use a rear- ward facing child restraint on a seat protected by an airbag in front of it! If the vehicle speed rises above 15 km/h (9 mph) without the belt fastened, a buzz- er sounds. (c) Front Passenger’s Seat Belt
Reminder Light
The light acts as a reminder to have the front passenger buckle up the seat belt. Once the ignition key is turned to “ON”, the reminder light flashes if a passenger sits in the front passenger seat and does not fasten the seat belt. Unless the front passenger fastens the belt, the light con- tinues flashing. If luggage or other load is placed on the front passenger seat, depending on its weight and how it is placed on the seat, built−in sensors in the seat cushion may detect the pressure, causing the reminder light
to flash.

(g) Low Fuel Level Warning Light This light comes on when the fuel level in the tank becomes nearly empty. Fill up the tank as soon as possible. On inclines or curves, due to the move- level ment of fuel in the tank, the low fuel warning light may come on earlier than usual. (h) “ABS” Warning Light
(on some models)
The light comes on when the ignition key is turned to the “ON” position. If the anti− lock brake system works properly, the light turns off after a few seconds. There- after, if the system malfunctions, the light comes on again. At this time, vibration may occur. Howev- er, if you depress the accelerator pedal more firmly and slowly, you can drive your vehicle at low speeds. Have your Toyota checked by your Toyota dealer as soon as possible. Even if the abnormality in the electronic throttle control system (gasoline engine) or electronic engine control system (diesel engine) is corrected during low speed driv- ing, the system may not be recovered until the engine is stopped and the ignition key is turned to the “ACC” or “LOCK” position.

On vehicles with an automatic transmission, the selector lever must be put in the “P” position before pushing the key. Once you remove the key, the engine im- mobilizer system is automatically set. (See “Engine immobilizer system” on page 12.) When starting the engine, the key may seem stuck at the “LOCK” position. To free it, first be sure the key is pushed all the way in, and then rock the steering wheel slightly while turning the key gently.
