2002 1.8ltr Nissan Pulsar N16

Fellow Boosters -

Last night i went for a drive, come home and my car wouldnt lock via central locking (not via remote or key) and i had to lock each door individually. I tested the manual locking button inside and still nothing. I checked that button for power to find no power.

I checked out a few other accessories for problems and found my interior light would only illuminate when it was in the 'ON' position and wouldnt illuminate when in the auto position (yes door was open)

Then i found that the rear window demister wasnt working switching on either.

I have checked all the obvious fuses and every other fuse within the car and under the bonnet to find they are all fine.

I have done a search in google for a solution and it seems a couple of people have had this issue but i couldnt find any real answer to my problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as it needs to go in for a R.W.C soon dunno.gif

Cheers!

Hello, this is chris, well in fact i have similar problems with my partner's son's car, a 2002 nissan pulsar..
-----The rear window dimister doesn't seem to work. the dash switch does not illuminate, or it doesn't show that it is in the ON position. I cant seem to find the relay to the rear window dimister.
-----The fuse box inside the vehicle does not show what relalys are stuck to it, so I am not sure if the relay is missing ( one relay socket has no relay in it).

Have you got a fuse box legend showing what relay belongs to what please?? As the original book supplied with the car is missing, (A picture of the fuse box and relay legends would be fantastic, if you can suppy the same please).

Hope you can help me out, as I am stuck here.

Cheers and Thanks in advance.

Chris

does it still chime if you have keys in ignition and switched off and the drivers door is open?? if so it sounds like it could be your smart entrance control unit which is located behind the glovebox. try putting remote inside glovebox and pushing the buttons. im about 90% sure thats what it is but.....they are pretty exy and i wouldnt take my internet talk for real diagnosis.

I have had the same problem for the last few months. It happened after I got a flat battery. A few days ago I had another flat battery, got a mate to give me a jump and to my amazement everything was working again. Maybe try disconnecting your battery a few times and see if it fixes your problem.

Any updates? I've got the same problem, have checked all fuses and tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery but still no luck.

Surely with this many people having the same problem with the N16, there'd have to be a sparky out there with a good idea of the fault?

You would think so. I have looked at nearly every webpage i could find without success.

I have checked all the fuses, put the testlight on the plugs and fuse panel and it all has power.

Im certainly scratching my head.

I know of a very good auto sparky at Albion. They're pretty switched on with fault diagnosis. If anyone wants their details, let me know.

This works for me, disconnect battery, clean terminals and works. I enquire from toyota service and they are charging $165.00 minimum.

So many people with the same problem,it certainly seems to be coming across as either low voltage, bad earth,or both. With the age of the vehicle, and the fact that the problem appears to happen at roughly the same time,I would be leaning towards bad earth.Probably a matter of removing, and cleaning up the earth strap that runs from the engine block,to the chassis,as well as the battery terminals. Are you are saying that the Toyota Service Department are charging $165,just to clean up your battery terminals,or to investigate the problem, and repair?

Its the (anti-theft) fuse under the bonnet mine wasnt blown but had a bad contact at the fuse pulled in and out and chimes, cabin lights, central locking all started working again 🙂
