Hey all just wondering if anyone knows if a 31 skyline diff is same as 31 pintara. I know some are irs so they won't fit... cheers

all adm r31's (pini or skyline) came with a solid rear axle

pini's are 25 spline, skylines are 28

both run the bw78

you can use the pini crownwheel and pinion gear to give you a higher ratio

Ok cheers. yea I understand pintaras have 4:11 diff gears. I heard its possible to get the open centre diff made into a lsd.. has anyone heard of this?

you can put an lsd diff into an open centre diff

dunno about making it and lsd

unless you buy a locca or equivalent locking centre

R31 Silhouette have a factory BW LSD

Coincidentally, the rebuild kits had run out of stock around the same time the AU Falcon was released. Thankfully, the BA/GF Falcon runs the exact same LSD in the Falcon, so the BW centre from a Falcon can be used in a R31 wink.gif

pretty sure they changed the diffs a lot with ba's

especially with the move to irs, the ute/wagon diffs were still bw's but i think they are like bw81's or something

i had a look for something to put in the 31 with no avail sad.gif

all holden utes from vn to vs "should" have lsd centres and are still the bw78 28 spline. only the irs is the bw80 any yeh no parts swap over. but that still leaves a massive selection. I used a ba slippery for a vn, I might add the oil cost me nearly as much as the centre.

you can bolt a pitara 31 diff straight in where a skyline one was

Yes they fit, i wreck them and have heaps of them skyline come out 3.89 gears and pintara 4.11 but all bolt up the same and in the same holes ect

Where are you located abouttimeglenn? I am in desperate need of either a skyline or pints ra diff. Which is better ratio wise for drifting?

the 3.89's from the skyline will give you better wheel speed if you have the grunt. As mentioned solid rear commodore ute's run the same centre 28 spline. the axles are different for the pintara 25 spline. be sure and get this right. Falcons pre independant also run the same centre. if you have the housing already just run skyline axles and chase up a centre. most wreckers will have one

Thanks for the info. I am looking to put one in an 400hp SR20 powered RS2000 escort and was told the R31 solid axle is the best a) it's already setup for disc brakes and b) not much if any shortening to fit the escort. I will also be running coilovers and 5 link setup in the rear.

Are the axle the same length i wanna try fit the Pintra axle into my sigma because there the same spline and my length off my diff is the same as a 31??
