Hey guy's, i recently brought a n14 sss pulsar 99 Model.
i want to boost the sr20de but have no clue where to start, or what is even involved.
any help or information would be appreciated. I have never owned an sr20de before and because of that i wouldnt know my way around even the slightest niggle with the engine
is there much maintenance involved in these engines?
also how do the gear boxes stand up to the engine with the extra power.?

also i understand that torque steer is going to be a bitch, is there anything that can be done to minimise this.?

:) :)

If the engine has more than 180,000kms on it, I would strong recommend just purchasing a W10 SR20DET engine(dont need a loom) along with the W10 ECU(it plugs into the stock ECU plug location without issue!) and a GTiR or U13 airflow meter(plugs into N14 stock harness, same signal as the W10 AFM)

The conversion is not hard BUT all the little things add up.

Gearbox will eventually destroy 3rd gear(even if it takes 2 years etc), start looking for a new gearbox basically as soon as you finish the conversion if this car is going to be a daily. The gearboxes are rare and usually command around $800 for a good one and is around $1800 for a rebuild OR around $7000 for a PAR gearset which makes the gearbox indestructible. Nismo used to make LSD's for the gearbox but they are no longer available.

This is one I did for a mate

EDIT: I see you have 99 model and N14? N14 was only 1991 to 1995, N15 was 1995 to 2000. If you have an N15, get a W10 airflow meter

N15 pulsar would be the one you own if it is a 1999.

BUT

If it is in fact an N14 SSS i can only comment on the gearbox/ torque steer comment. Like with any car, gearboxes can break if you drive it like a cock. I have owned my N14 SSS with a GTIR engine conversion for well over a year now and my gearbox has held up, its still in perfect condition. Its all down to how you drive it.

Torque steer isnt a problem, they aren't too bad for it.

Personally, if your going to go to all the drama's of doing it, do a GTIR conversion, way better engine than the w10

So many years later and im doing the same build. So w10 is the way to go for the n14? I have everything i need except ecu. Some have told me w11 will be fine too so will i just need a w10/11 afm???
