By the means of getting the most power out of doing engine work and exhaust mods which car would be better, the supercharged v6 monaro or the v8

Good question I think..

I've only heard of the supercharged S pack commodores being rather slow compared to a standard 6.. which is faster stock? The v8 I'd imagine, so that's probably the best choice for a starting point.

The less power to start with, the harder to get more power in the end usually.

i think the v8 would be the best for potential mods, the supercharged v6 only comes in auto. and has the same power as the v8 but far less torque

go street machines ahha

hmmmmmmmm.... all i know is that the more mods you do to a monaro the more the petrol consumption goes up.... but still im looking into lots of options (tossin it up between 200sx gt or cv8)

all i know is that i've never had so much fun behind the wheel of a car since i bought my 200sxgt. i was weighn up the same option, go the gt, save the money and mod the sx to death!!

pfft, sif the supercharged 6's are anything. They are shitters, seriously, that's why they are being canned in the sedan line up (dunno about the monaros). They have less power than a barra forte, (whoever said they have the same as a gen3 is wrong). Take your cv8 monaro to corsa, they tweek the computer, change the exhaust, there's 305kw for you....

Yeah Resin is right on the money there.. the Supercharged V6 has been beaten in power by the BA falcon.. which pumps out 180 something kw or power...

Holden are rumoured to be release a limited batch of 7.something litre V8 manaros next year... (i think 20) which will bring down the CV8 model in price i would think..

If you get a v6 your going to be dissapointed as they are gutless POS's ...

Holden are going to pull their finger out in 2004 with a new v6 engine... ABOUT TIME!

LOL.. thats that of my chest...

Yeah V8 is the way to go, more people know there way around them too. And I have been hearing that the commodore line up is no more after the VY, hence maybe the new engine with a new car.

Seems like the v8 is the flavour to have, i have always though you could do more to a 6, but oh well, thats what forums are here for (learning new things).

Well when you think about it the V8 has two more cyls and more displacement, so it sort of makes sence that you can do more to it or at least more to it cheaper. But why not buy the 6cyl, sell the supercharged, buy a better one and then work the 6 to the nut house. It would be something very different.
