If you own a stock standard Hyundai Excel then this is the sprint series for you.
http://www.trackattack.com.au/excel

We are going to run a Sprint series for Hyundai Excel owners.
Its going to be cheap and fun.
Standard engines.
Street tyres.

No extra cost to be part of the series, just come and run at the sprints and pay the normal entry fee.
It will only take a few cars to make a series, so let us know if your interested,
we already have a couple of guys looking at buying cars just to participate.

The format will initially be Sprints, we will also have circuit racing for cars that are suitably prepared.

Cheers Jeff

:run:
The sad part is that the 2 that currently go to lakeside run around there in 70 seconds which a lot of other cars cant make.

I am in negotiations to get some inexpensive bolt in roll cages - probably $300 to $500
and I might have a supply of cars as well.

how else can you get a track car that you can run competitively in a series for under $1000.00 ?

:run: .. would be just as bad as having a daewoo race !!!! .....

Would be interesting, by street tyres i assume semi slicks are allowed as long as they are dot approved.

No other mods, standard suspension, intake and exhaust?

lol this could be very interesting

Makes me want to go out and buy an Excel just for this...

... or maybe not. :run:

to keep costs down I was thinking along the lines of any tyre that is DOT approved and NOT on a race tyre list.
so you could run achilles and Ku36, but NOT 888s or AO50's etc.
intake and exhaust would probably be free
brakes would be standard, but pads would be free

LOL i guess standard silvia's are rare!!!

plus silvias command too much of a premium which negates the whole super cheap racing. As many people have said noone wants to drive an excel (well noone sane) but that is good for this kind of series cause it's cheap as hell

the whole concept was to buy a car for something like $500 and enter a competitive sprint series without even having to modify it. Add a cage for safety and you have a race car for under $1000 that will comply with the series rules and you can even go circuit racing with it if you want.

iirc there is an excel rally series, no reason why this wouldn't work.. at least you wouldn't give a fuck about the car.

love this idea!
twin cam manual+whiteline suspension package and toyo r888's.
would be a quick little jigger and cheap!
plus the wreckers are full of 'em.

If I didn't already have a car set up to race at lakeside I would have loved to join this series

I guess its just going to be a bit of fun and not serious as don't the excels have different engines
single and twin cam ?

Are there series rules and regulations somewhere ?
Curious to see the rules regarding lightweight :run: I reckon you could get an excel down to around 800kgs

Serious Fun is the intention :run:

The rules are starting to come together here.

So looking at the rules, you can turbo charge the stock motor?

says it needs to be a stock excel engine although exhaust and intake can be done

TwinCam16
Post #33

The engine would be stock.

And the intake and exhaust being free, well where does the turbo sit :run:

hehe good point someone take advantage of the loophole and win the whole series although the money used likely won't be worth it as you would only ever get negative reps from winning an excel racing series.

Excel destruction Derby would be a lot more fun!
