Looking at converting my workhorse 85' Mazda B2000 to a diesel. It currently has a 2.0L SOHC petrol 4 cyl ( MA engine its called, same motor as old 626 ), would like to fit the diesel motor out of the B2200 into it. I think its called a RF??? Just want to know if the petrol's box ( 5 speed ) will fit to the diesel engine, if not, do the diesel engine and gearbox crossmember bolt up to where the mounts are on a petrol model??? Yes i'm also aware I'd probably have to change fuel tank, fuel lines to suit the diesel. Don't want to fit a new fandangle diesel as i want to keep things simple, prefer a bolt in job. I've already done a fair bit of work to my petrol ute ie.. paint, interior, tray so getting rid of the petrol ute is out of the question.
Why do i want to do this ??? economy... more torque. I do tow a car trailer on occassion and the 2.0L petrol really doesn't like it.
Info greatly appreciated.

if they are different series motors, probably not

if you can, go to a wreckers and ask to look at both motors or gear boxes, measure and compare

Yeah thats a good idea. But unfortunatley none of the wreckers around my way have parts for either the petrol or diesel utes, I know this as i searched for panels when i was preparing my body to spray, nobody got nothing for them.
I have googled the B2200 and can't find a straight answer as to which motor they have either. I can find American models but i Know the aussie models were different. I think the E2200 Van had the same running gear perhaps. Would really like some info on the motors out of them.
