Not such a bad idea that. But lets not talk about it on this as the new 'hooning laws' start as of monday.

seriously, get irc, that's the only way you're going to get people to turn up.

Tell me about these new laws, and how they will affect me as a young guy with a hot car who enjoys cruising.

Basically stay at home. But yeah, the police only have to have 'reasonable suspision' that you have done something to take your car off your hands for a few days. So if they dont like the look of you, and your car is say near some tyer marks on the road you could get done for it. Very very open ended laws.

Heh, had my GT-R for 5 weeks and i have not once thought of going for a cruise, let alone give it a strap, got the bug today while at work and now i can't, oh well that's life.

When are u guys gunna learn?

Why buy a Commodore / Falcoon ? go out and buy a $500 car and sink a few grand into mods and getting it roadworthy...

That way when ur car gets confiscated (which it will because you are a skid laying bogan fool) you only lose a few grand, go to jail for hooning, get reamed and then come out again, rinse and repeat

Quite seriously, the laws are way too undefinded, as I said on another forum, if you look even remotly like an ex-boyfreind of the policemans daughter your stuffed.

I'd have to disagree.. only a few hundred people actually use IRC and #brisbanecars on Austnet. Even fewer people actually read every line written in the channel, and any event that is organised there is always between people who tend to already know each other.

As opposed to forums, where something can be written/suggested to be organised, and people can read it in their own time rather than in 'realtime' ... IRC isn't the answer for most people.

For example, the sunshine coast cruise coming up, as if we could have organised that on IRC!!

I am yet to see a decent short notice "cruise" that has been organised solely from forums. They've all been pulled from irc.

Agreed

Short Notice (medium turnout) = IRC

Large Notice (big turnout) = forums

But having just said that, the "doomsayers / paranoids" will be arguing that you just gave all the info they need away...

Personally, I think that driving home at 1am on a tuesday / wednesday night would be a bad idea (have heard of people getting pulled up - being the ONLY ones on the road and the police doing a FULL vehicle search and defect) Least on a thurs / sat night there is plenty of traffic so that you won't get singled out as much...

yeah good point. but thanks to dioxide no use in trying to keep it off the net.

as go's for being pulled over i think the risk is smaller. but depends i would rather be driveing home at 3am then being singed out of trafic when theres more cops.

any way

1 . Meh - like anybody will ever listen to a moderator / admin

2. Driving home at 3:00am - you will be pulled over and QUESTIONED, not just pulled over.

How many "sane people" cruise the streets in hi-po cars at 1 to 3 am in the morning with good intents ???

We never have been in the past year or so, and a corolla with a bonnet scoop is sorta obvious. And its not that we havent seen police about either. We have they were actually out aressting people for stealing stuff.
wheres the love grim .. hehehehe j/k

I really dont think you should bother posting that sort of information dude, go to http://www.ausforums.com and sign up a forum to post that information. Im sure you dont want to get mcloud into trouble :|
Heheh, what love? Looks at Title above avatar wink.gif

It's not really a point of getting Mcleod in troube with this certain comment, rather the organising of stuff on the net has proven to be a bit dodgy... Place names and locations are a bad idea to disclose... Since this isnt an official Boostcruising.com cruise

I understand that he was only "suggesting" a location, but its still not a great idea.

Sorry
