It's an amazing story on how i got this beauty!! i was with at the car auctions, just checking out the cars they had there...and out of no where i hear this beast purring from the distance i snap my neck to see what it could be and all i got glimpse of was the last centimeter of the "WHITE LIGHTNING" decal, and being a previous owner of a 88 CELICA ST162 and my dream car being the 88 CELICA GT4 ST165, i knew how rare a white lightning is!! and i couldnt believe my eyes so i sprinted to it like a kid in a candy store i didnt know what to do what to look at first my heart was pounding out of my chest, at first i thought it was in the auction, then to my excitement, the driver told me it was his!! i was looking around her and she was flawless to my eyes and when i asked him about her he tells me something i would only dream of.... shes for sale!!... at that second i thought "i need her" as much as money is a massive problem... i didnt think of it!! and while still looking at her i notice something i couldnt believe shes only done 165000kms, i desired her even more!! as he continued to told me how he completly reconditioned the head, everything is working and theres no rust at all!! I asked him "so how much do you want??" "$2000" he replied, after taking her from a test drive i noticed she needed a clutch and regasing or TX valve or both!! we came a conclusion of $1600 at that night i went to his house to give him a deposit and a week later i picked her up, every morning i wake up and cant believe i own a white lighting its a dream come true!!

Geez man you should write for a car magazine or something. Never seen anyone hype up a $1600 FWD Celica like that. Excuse my ignorance but what exactly is a 'White Lightning'?

    3SGE is pretty awesome. Otherwise...well it's a sillycar as mentioned above tongue.gif
Not bad for the price though considering it is indeed in pretty damn good condition.
ST162 special editions are interesting. I remember having a look at a 'GT-R' once, and being much less than impressed. AFAIK all it meant was a nice suede interior.
Please don't buy a varex, you'll just feel bad when you get defected anyway for having a device that conceals illegal sound levels. Just use a proper mid-muffler for starters.

I didn't know varex's where illegal?? Ok thanks for the info!!

Illegal and crap. In mine, the screw which holds in the butterfly valve became dislodged which resulted in the butterfly valve getting fully pushed shut and jammed in my muffler. Car wouldn't drive properly until I find a way to get it out. For the price they cost you are better off getting a good quality muffler.

nice example of a white lightning, though i think 120kw is a bit high, my 3sgte (gen 3) on 16psi is making 160 All wheel KW.
your planned mods are good and tasteful, save ya cash for the 165 if thats what you really want!

thanks ausjd2703, i did my research and it said that the factory 3SGE has 110kw and i added 10kw for the extractors and free flow exhaust, but only a dyno would know!! i cant wait to have my 165!! its gonna be the happiest day of my life!! the second i crank that engine a hear the bov go off im seriously gonna wet myself!! smile.gif

Your White Lightning is in great condition! You don't usually find a front spoiler/valance in such good condition if it's still attached at all, and your sunroof looks completely rust free (we were beginning to think the rust was an OEM item tongue.gif).
For those wondering, the limited edition "White Lightning" ST162 was a limited run of only 200. The differences to the regular 162 are GT-Four-esque bucket seats, white exterior trim and wheels and obviously the side decals. The White Lightning was unofficially Toyota's attempt to push the remaining ST162s out the door to make way for the ST18x series.

I have 3 ST162s myself, including a White Lightning, which is unfortunately automatic (which I plan to change, I have an MR2 turbo E153 gearbox for it).

If you'd like, please join our Celica community on Facebook! I'd love to see a White Lightning in such good condition in person biggrin.gif

eletronic rust things are a bit of a scam, beach fishos tried them and never made a different, fertan any rust you can see, then flood every crevice with Tectyl, you will have that nice 80's full dealer protection pack smell.
