Hey all, wondering on the price associated with putting a gtir sr20 into a 98 lx pulsar.

Can it be done, how much work does it involve and can the car handle that power.

Any help would be much appreciated.

doesnt work to well mate cause the gti-r engin is all wheel drive as you would already know.........
a mate of mine is wanted to do the same do his nissan NX coupe......
i took him to GT auto and the right engin is the SSS bluebird sr20 turbo........ its front wheel drive and drops straight in clearly.
go see alex at GT auto mate, im sure u will be inpressed

What kind of price did your friend get quoted.

flyline, what are you reasons against the gtir conversion? what does it matter that the motor is out of an AWD car. just wonderin because my brother just finished a gtir engine conversion in an N14 SSS

1st point, dont take this guys advice ^^^ GTiR engine will mate up to a FWD with no problems, i have one in my car.

i'd factor in 10k for the conversion, but i cant be bothered listing everything thats needed as you will probably change your mind tomorrow smile.gif

i have done this conversion in a n15sss u use the gtir engine and use the 2ltr fwd gearbox from the pulsar bolt straight up

anyway the sss bluebird sr20 came out awd anyway

You will need extras like, gearbox, mounts, crossmember, drive shafts etc etc. Better to do it in a 2l pulsar where everything pretty much mates up

My concern with the blue brid sr20 would be the fact that it is such an old engine. If it was me I wouldnt want to be putting such an old engine in a new car.

GTI-R engines while older are perhaps the best sr20 motor made. Quad throttles, big turbo and a few other changes made it an excellent performer.

But as psi99 said you will probs change your mind tommorow.

wtf

all sr20det r the same the blubird motor is the same motor as in the s13 sr20det but only fwd

the gtir is the same (apart from comp ratio)just more mods in the head department (ie bigger valves ports)

321cya, there are a lot more changes to a GTIR motor than that.

larger oil / coolant pump, head studs, main studs, block is just the start.

The list is huge it was a rally homologation block and it shows in the extras they slipped in to homologate them.

It'll be an easy 10 grand like PSI999 said and then you still won't have solved keeping a gearbox under it (since you'll use a standard pulsar SR20 gearbox that won't like the extra grunt of the turbo).
