Washed it. First time in probably 6 weeks. Now to just not drive it in the rain if I can help it. It'll remain clean for another 6 weeks.

Put in a K&N air filter
Put in an Optima yellow top battery
Booked in for tomorrow to have the diff seals replaced
Booked in for Thursday to have the center muffler removed so it sounds like a real V8 until i can afford a full system

Not a car, but my brother dropped this off at my house the other day:



Its a 2005 Eton CXL150. A Taiwan-ese quad we got back in 2005. It has the GY6 150cc motor and CVT trans in it and is a good bike to ride for what it is, so not as bad as your typical ebay special. Theyre quite popular bikes in the US, Eton's. For the money you can get them for I definitely reccomend it as a small ATV. Parts are just as easy to get off the internet as your typical Yamaha/Honda/whatever so thats not really an issue and the Australian distributor has been around for years. However the flywheel/stator/magneto is flogged out and needs replacing (or possibly repairable, will find out soon). And there is a crack in one of the welds on the swingarm pivot. Its 6 odd years old (possibly 7, couldve been 04 we got it) and has had a really hard life, when we first got it i didnt think it would last 3 years. I have been very happy with the quality of this bike. So its time for a strip down and a bit of TLC.

Hasnt taken long at all to get it stripped down bit by bit. The first major issue to be adressed is the swingarm. It had been "repaired" by someone while i was off galavanting about in QLD and when i got back and saw the workmanship, it was put on the to-do list. I hope my brother didnt pay his mate to do this. Anyway, down she goes.

While i wait for the old man to get home so i can go and pinch his welder, i set about stripping the rest of the bike down. By now it was small enough to get in the back shed/games room/mancave so it went up on our highly advanced Bike Workshop Stand:



This is the flywheel/cooling fan. Behind here sits the generator that is believed to be stuffed:



I cant do much until the particular flywheel puller i had to get off ebay comes in the mail (hopefully soon) so i turn to other matters. The backup kickstarter has been bent down and is no longer functioning. The spindle, tensions spring and drive nut are all buggered. Will probably not bother replacing it. Weve never had to use the kickstart as a primary starting method in all the years weve used and abused this bike and it just gets in the way sometimes.



More diassembly, and the motor gets taken out and put on the bench for easier working.





Its tiny little CVT trans:



How many of you can say you lift a motor and box out with nothing but your bare hands, half pissed in your backyard! Har har har

This is as it sits now:



All thats left on it is the wiring loom, tail light and horn (as well as all the bolts that could be put back in thier captive nuts. Its easier than putting them in baggies and getting them mixed up or whatever. Just put them back!). Going to remove all that whenever i get around to it (bit of a tedious and not very fun job), sand the chassis back a bit and rattle can the chassis bright purple lol.

Plans for the rebuild include a smaller rear sprocket, general carby TLC, a big bore kit if funds permit just yet (although the prime objective is just to get it running again period), some small LED spotties and then some conditional offroad rego so we can take it with us when go to places like Wilbinga, Calcup Hill and Lancelin. Fun times!

Probably going to be a slow project being that money is tight and everything has to ordered internationally (well, its much, much cheaper to do so).

Finished painting my wheels fluro orange. Now i just gotta wet sand them then i can clear them and get some new tyres as the ones on them now have a shit load of camber wear.

Also does anyone know where i can get a orange glow in the dark pigment? I've tried ebay and some other sites but they all only seem to do green, blue and aqua.

Attempted to replace the standard parkers with white led ones. Passenger side was a piece of piss, did it in about 1 minute. Drivers side however, not so easy. After around 30 minutes and 3 guys attempting to just "pull it out" I called it quits before something got broken. Will have to wait till the weekend when the front bar gets taken off so I can take the headlight out and get at it with some pliers or something. Fingers are still hurting from trying to grip the tiny piece of plastic from a stupid angle.

I threw a battery into my infamous Soarer, kicked it in the guts and moved it from one basement carpark, up to my new basement carpark on the upper level. I was a bit pissed to discover that while my drivers window has been stuck down (fixing this weekend) someone has stolen my gear lever knob, which was some asian brand that came with the car. Since my car is parked way down the end of the carpark, and next to no one walks past it, I will assume it was, or friends of the piece of shit attempt at a mini truck that parks near me, quite possibly the same douches that wrote asking to buy my car on the dust on the bonnet.

It's going off to my mechanics soon and will be registered and back on the road shortly

Yeah I thoight about that but I didn't have any steel lying about (recently moved into a mew place). Flying out to work tonight so it'll have to wait til I get home, you reckon otll be fine to get a bit of plate and notch out a piece to fit over that join as it sits now.....then weld it on as a gusset piece? Wont be as good as doing it from the get go but I guess it'll hold.

took it to get the diff seals replaced, found out it was both the seals leaking not just the one that i thought, THEN about 2 hours after i dropped it off they called me to ask where the lock nut key is.... it was in the boot last week and now its nowhere to be found so now have to rebook it after i figure out which key to order from ford... damnit

Edit: Oh and im getting the center muffler cut out tomorrow just temp until i save for a full system

Hope for your sake it you can buy the key separate instead of in a set, you sure there's no other way of getting it off?

yeah already spoke to the spare parts area at ford, they can order another one but the need the numbers off the top of the old one, I've been looking on ebay and one of the sets of numbers looks familiar so i might give it a go.
I went around a few shops today and there are a couple that can get it off but they need it for a few hours, they have to drill them off.

might go see one of my friends that has a ba falcon and check if she has lock nuts on it and if so if they are the same.

yeah i tried that already, had one that was 7/8 which was too small and then the next size up was 15/16 and that was too big, depending how much the key costs i might just get them drilled off

Triangular piece of 1.2 to 1.8 plate right over the top, weld one edge first, hammer the plate down to get as much contact patch as possible then weld the whole triangle

Fitted new carbon fibre "Bee Sting" aerial to my ute. Surprisingly didn't lose [i]that[/i] much reception, even though its about a quarter of the size. After that fitted new single piece plug'n'play HID fog light kit. Is fucking awesome. Took a whole of two minutes each side. They fit perfectly and holy shit they are bright. I won't be looking into them again.
Very happy and would recommend them to anyone.

i had to try a few different varieties of socket - all supposedly the same size - and finally found one that i could belt on and use my rattle gun to loosen

Stripped paint out of the engine bay, completely blacked out inside the cabin, changed over partner's rusted drivers door for good door (exchanged reg and glass etc, bushes are fucked, waiting for ladyboy replacements now).

Was cleaning up the front end a bit and noticed the rubber boot wouldn't stay on the back of one of my low beams. Since I had the front bar off I pulled the headlight out and thought I'd just take a look at the HID globe. But when I pulled it out I snapped the damn electrode [img]http://www.boostofftopic.com/public/style_emoticons/default/pissed.gif[/img].
Lucky I can get the globes cheap through work. But still a pain in the ass.
