how much????

lil_bobby_260
Post #111

Just what I paid for them - $80. Bought them as a spare set so i could tint my ones and still have a pair of taillights if i dont like how it turns out. Turned out good, so i dont need the spare set now. Theyre in great condition.

Whereabouts are you? Theres heaps of us with R31 drift cars. Should do a black-bonnet cruise.
What is your setup? what have you done to your car?

I'm on the Gold Coast, the only mods I've done since i've bought it is the s13 front end, flared front guards and rolled rears, gts-r grill, shift boot, lights and Volk 15" meshies.... Existing rear lowered springs which are soft as hell haha.

lil_bobby_260
Post #115

Haha ok well it bloody looks the part. Wouldnt have picked those for 15's, hey. Look much bigger.
Very nice! Theres a set of those headlights on ebay starting at $250! i want em so bad, but not THAT bad haha

Ive started a group buy for bodykits for these things... If you didnt see it haha. There are about 8 threads, some on here, some on skylines australia and will be one on R31skylineclub too.

Have a look!

how much is it?

FLMN HT
Post #119

$80 to drift from 7-10pm at qr raceway, $53 for a liecence for 1 year not to sure how much the nite liecences are but they are available all you need to do is fill out 2 short forms and your on your way, the car doesnt have to be roadworthy either, hope to see yas out there if ya keen, from the northside of brissy best to leave early or you hit the friday arvo traffic on the way out which sux happened to me last time, left narangba at 5 and got out there at 8:30 not really wat you want when ya pay $80, so leave early.

cut my spring during the week sits nicely, minamized the body roll HEAPS dont even need to clutch it to get it to break traction now, getting a roll bar made up, i've allready made half of it from the bar off 1 of my nissan navara back cuz i got 3, just need to get it all welded up this week should look sweet as when done i'll post up some pics.

FLMN HT
Post #121

doubled up on the rear sway bar works excellent.

FLMN HT
Post #122

first pic is what i started with, then cut it to bend to the right angle, cut 170mm out of the middle cuz it was 1200 wide and the nissan is only a metre in side to where i need it, cut the inside angle to bend it to a right angle, cut the ends off so the extension can be welded on and joined to a mounting plate being made up so the bar itself fits into the roll bar and put a bolt thru it all to join it so i can remove it if i want too, will upload more pics when its all done.

Youre making a roll cage for your R31? Is that exhaust tube...? Or is it a 'sports bar' for your ute?

Double swaybar is a neat idea. If the whiteline swaybar isnt rigid enough for me ill double it up with the standard one.

FLMN HT
Post #124

nah its the sports bar off the back of 1 of my navara rears it's 3mm tubeing, i didnt need it cuz im making 1 of em into a trailer to match my ute but i've extented the front on the trailer and cut the wheel arches out and got checker plate folded up to line the internals up looks sweet as but not finished cuz im spending my money on my r31 lol

Theres another thread for meets and drift events, so back on topic -
Just fitted my Whiteline rear anti-sway bar, using Whiteline bushes on the sway bar mounts, and nolathane bushes on the sway bar link pins.
Huge difference! steps out a LOT better, and MUCH more predictable, especially combined with the minispool. Sits very flat.
Needs one for the front now i think. And a strut brace.
Took it out last night in the rain to test it and see if there is much difference, and there really is a huge gain to be had by stiffening it up and eliminating some body roll. Can start a slide way before the corner, and maintain it through the apex and under lots of throttle while sliding, without the car rolling from side to side while working the steering wheel.
Did manage to clip a gutter and bend the lip on one of the Watanabes a lil tho... but its easily fixable.
.
Next - Front anti-sway bar and strut brace. Not sure about a rear strut brace - is it worth it considering how close it sits to the metal parcel tray anyway? id expect that that part of the vehicle is fairly braced as it is, id only be eliminating the TINIEST bit of flex.

nice to hear they did the job, as i said i woulda got the whitelines but $$$ atm is a bit tight so i just doubled mine and had the same effect very minimal body roll its good.

lil_bobby_260
Post #131

Well the whiteline one ended up costing me $170 including freight and the two whiteline sway bar mount bushes and brackets. I bought the link pin bushes seperately. Really looking forward to getting it on the track - Im hoping to have a hydraulic handbrake in it by the 3rd.

nice to hear u getting stuff done ...unlike me sad.gif lol

just wondering if you dont mind me asking, how much has all the modifications cost you so far??roughly

thanks awesome but where was my phone call? haha

DW about clipping the gutter i done it a month or so ago at 80kmish and didnt break or bend anything!

lil_bobby_260
Post #134

Haha sorry man! Nah i was only about for about 30 minutes - just a quick run. But yeah i hit the gutter where a drain was so shes got a little bit of drift damage on the lip haha... bent it.
Inlcuding buying the car, then adding the following -
.
full set of 16x7's with tyres
pair of 16x8 watanabe's with tyres
surge tank
vl turbo fuel pump
short shifter
shocks x4
springs x4
front and rear brembo rotors
front and rear bendix ceramic brake pads
aftermarket wheel and boss kit
wheel spacers
minispool diff centre
new rear windscreen cos i smashed it accidentally
new tyres
drift pod filter, inlet piping and alloy bends and AFM adapter (so a full CAI setup)
Whiteline rear swaybar
chip for ECU with modified fuel map etc
Nolathane suspension bushes
extractors + exhaust
Full service, new plugs, engine oil and trans and diff oil, new oil filter
MSD Blaster SS coil
Top gun leads (8.8 or 10mm, cant remember which)
.
I THINK that is it so far... All the labour has been done by myself and a mate (qualified nissan mechanic)
.
Bit of cash, including buying the car. And a LOT of labour. Really, all i need to do is fit a front swaybar and strut brace, and a tougher clutch when it needs it, and a hydraulic handbrake to help it kick out better. So probably another $500 and she's done.

Hey man, you going to take it out to archy some day?

lil_bobby_260
Post #136

Yeah i'll be taking it to archie as soon as i think its worth it - just trying to get a proper setup first. It doesnt have an abundance of power so ive really got to make sure that all the other aspects are set up well enough to keep it sliding.

FLMN HT
Post #137

yer archy is a bit small for me lol, dont have the power to drift the whole cercuit atm like most other guys, but at the end of the year shoud either have it set-up with a rb30/rb25, rb25det, or just get forgees for the rb30 and run twin turbo, not sure yet. much prefer willow cuz you can get plenty of speed before the corner to keep you goin.

sorry to be rude but FFS is not willow bank. willow bank is a drag track.

wow man thanks heaps for the huge amount of detail youve put into this much appretiated.
I know its no 31 but im currently in the stages of building a bluebird drifter (thats ight, bluebird, will e the next ksev haha)
but dont laugh now, iv got a CA18DET with forged bottom end, to put in it. will be 5spd and HUGE suspension upgade coz i know how the blueys love the body roll.... QUESTION TIME!

what ratio diff should i use...? ill be upgrading the entire suspension setup so reto-fitting a 32 rear isnt out of the question or full custom made 31 ect ect.. but i just wanna know what would be best for it.

what is FMCA or whatever it is, my old man told me alot bout carbyd engines, everything else iv SLOWLY learnt myself.

lastly, what would you suggest replacing suspension wise? coz i just dont know.... lol

oh btw, pipster, tassy rocks and you know it tongue.gif
