Isn't that flat black pictured already ?
I'd get clear coated, just look cleaner, with the glossy finish matching glossy paintwork

i concur

Painting wheels isn't too hard...

they're easy, as they are spokes, meshies i rkn tend to take more time. but one afternoon and a nice sunny day should be good

from what ive seen not that expenisve.
just under $200 per rim, depnding where you buy i guess.

That's expensive. Take them to a body shop and just get them in 2 pac. Would look sweet. About right for powder coat which will be more hardy. But we 2pac-ed the wheels on Greg Cricks viper and their doing fine.

I saw a set of 24's carbon vinyl wrapped just now, down the road from work.
Different......Looks tacky, probably coz it's just a DIY

If I decide to do it myself what do I need, just primer, paint and clear?

Depends on how much effort you want to use.... If lazy just a few cans of Export paint and a quick sand...

Doc
Post #3404

Yer too much effort lol

Get some Scotchbright, good quality degreaer, good quality primer and the paint you want. Depending on what paint you might need some clear but ask whoever your getting the paint off that question.

Wash the hell out of them with car wash, then degreaser, then wipe them all over with the scotchbright and get rid of all the shine. You want them to look matt.

Then give them a good wipe over with metho to get rid of any dust and films from the degreaser.

Paint with primer, one coat. then sand it back with maybe 1200, unless it's a perfect job and there's no bumps or dust in the primer you can just paint it without sanding the primer.

haha I remember my dad kept saying that to scare me when I was a kid.....

If you prepare you wheels yourself I'm sure a local spray and bake place will paint them for you pretty cheap. Most of the cost in painting is Labour. If you were in Tas and brought them in we wouldn't charge any more than $2-300 for the set if they were ready to paint.

That way you can get them painted nicely and they'll last longer being baked. And 2 pac is pretty hard to paint as it takes a while to dry, which means you might get dust and shit in them whilst they tac off. A booth will dry them toot smart.

i can get 10's on mine, but will require rolling guards and to much camber for my liking. and possibly pulling guards

9.5's will do the job fine
