BoostCruising _ Car Help & Advice _ 2016 Chevrolet Impala Fuse Box Locations

Posted by: Mcleod Jan 27 2021, 06:14 PM

There are two fuse box locations in the Chevrolet Impala, essentially in the engine bay next to the battery and another set is under the instrument panel on the drivers side - essentially underneath the steering wheel.

The purpose of the fuses is to protect the wiring circuits in the vehicle from short circuits, which greatly reduces any chance of electrical damage or fire if something where to go horribly wrong.

To check whether a fuse is working, you could use a fuse-checking tool but who carries one of those around? So the next best alternative is to pull the fuse out and inspect it closely to follow the silver-colored band inside the fuse. If it looks broken or melted than you have a bad fuse and it's time to replace it with a new one with the identical size and rating.

Not sure what a blown fuse looks like? Put the first one back and take another fuse out, you'll quickly learn how to tell if one is blown or not when you stumble across a blown one!

The engine compartment fuse block will have a set of fuses as pictured below, the purpose of each is outlined as follows:

Mini Fuses

J-Case Fuses

Mini Relays

Micro Relays
