Hello all. I have had this great car for about 6 years now, 4 of those turbocharged. I have loved this car, it has been fun to drive and has lots of power. It has been used for daily driving and as a long term project that I had big dreams for. It has been well looked after, with maintenance schedules followed religiously and preventative maintenance done rather than waiting till needed. However, of late I dont have the time to work on it and fix the current problem, with my work and study commitments. Ive been feeling like I need something simpler and more suitable for daily life for a while, and recent events confirm that. I am hoping someone else will take it on.
Recently, the car developed what I believed was just an intermittent misfire after sitting for a couple of weeks, while I was away. After trying to identify the cause, thinking this was a bunch of different things and replacing several parts, I took it to a shop. After getting the car into a shop it has been diagnosed as a short nose crank problem. It has a lot of pulley wobble causing the car to run quite poorly. I have heard various comments on the engine issue from different people, including partial rebuilding, but I do not know exactly what is necessary. I have not attempted a short nose crank fix and do not know if it would help. It will drive onto a tow truck but you will not be able to drive it home. 1991 Mazda MX5 NA6, Turbocharged, Mariner blue with Tan interior. Fully mod plated for exhaust, seat swap, turbocharger, roll cage and door bars. It is a complete setup and fully streetable (legal) if you are willing to fix the engine problem. Odometer reads 282,000km. Car will likely have to be sold without RWC due to engine issues, though is currently registered.
Looking for $8000, but open to offers. Lots more pictures here: https://goo.gl/BzPRVi

SPARES Comes with a box or two of all the stock parts that have come off the car that I have accumulated, including intake and MAF etc. Have the old turbo manifold with the crack in it and the radiator with a pinhole leak if you want to try weld them as spares, or to on sell. Blue plate forms in glove box for the two plates in the engine bay. Also, I have a bunch of maintenance bits for it, such as a fuel filter, Penrite full synthetic 10w-40 oils (one unopened), BKR7E plugs, brake pads, spare fuses and bulbs, can of body matched paint etc, which I will include.
So, as you can see, there is a lot of work that has already been done, and many parts are brand new or near new. The parts alone are worth near this much. All parts that need engineering have been mod-plated, making this turbo charged Mx5 street legal. Consequently, this car is a bargain for the mechanically minded and Mx5 car enthusiast.
Any questions please ask. I'm happy to send more details or pictures of anything. Car is located in Coorparoo, Brisbane.
