Hi Guys....

I have a 04 BA Falcon with the interior dash(like on the picture attached)

Is it possible to install a Sub? If so how do you go about doing it, what is the easiest way?

I don't want to modify the dash too much... i would prefer to keep it stock?

What is the cost of putting one in?

This will sound like a shitty pay off, but if you zip over to yellow pages.com call up just about any auto electrical place and ask them for a rough quote.

Do the stock BA stero's have a preout for a sub? If not then u will need a aftermarket headunit

think if u wana keep the main unit, u gotta splice into the speaker cables into a lineout converter so it changes to rca outputs.

mate put a foldout dvd screen in his and looks pretty cool when tidied up smile.gif

You can put a sub in without rca preouts on our headunit. Buy your sub, amp and necessary wiring kit, but also buy a converter that turns your rear speaker cables into rca preouts. Tell the bloke at jbhifi or where ever you are buying the gear from that you need a converter that turns speaker cables into rca outputs. They are relatively cheap and this means you don't need to touch your ford headunit at all.
Run the power cables, you will have to find an accesories power source to switch the amp on and off you go.

yeah, like the two guys said above. Run RCA line converters off your rear speakers.
about $30 a side.

Alternative you can buy amps with speaker level input, but I am certain that they do not come one monoblock amps, which are designed for subwoofers. So you would have to get a Full range amp (2ch or 4ch). Maybe get some front splits and use 2 channels to run them. That would really be ideal, give you nice mid-high range to match the bass of the sub.

line level converter.

if you want good sounding stuff, dont get a shitty one. aim for something like the lC6i i believe its called. its between 200 and 300 but well worth the money.

yep thats a $1500 paperweight that is VERY easy to fuck up! $3k if its a colour screen one.

easier to pay someone to fit a radio to that thing. panels are available for it.

How much did the entire project cost him? I have seen something similar on the internet but he lost his two main aircon ducts... is that the same with your friend?

only cost was buying the unit. him n his dad did it themselves. nah nufin was screwed.
wot they did was take out the tissue holder and moved the ciggy lighter sumwer, made theyr own brackets (sayd there was mounting points on either side to easily put them), and made there own facia to suit underneath the unit. looks decent

All cigarette lighters have a positive and an earth (12 volts to the middle connection),you could also pick up a feed from the wipers,at the fuse box.Whatever source you use, make sure there is an inline fuse, fitted before whatever you are you are supplying the power to
This shows where the positive and earth are connected
