hey guys thers something i,v wanted to do for a while.
who yould wanna do a show and shine car show just for us
car enthusiasts. To show the public that were not a buch of raging hoons and just like our fast cars.. if we could get some support from the heat and a venue from the council.
a gold coin entry from the public could either pay for the venu or start a social club, to help out with road trips.
a cruise afterwards would be on the egender.
What yas think..
just an idea....
supertiva
With a bit of work maybe we could in corporate this into a next community event?
vh-holden
pm sent filling in breifly about the christmas cruise

on that note - maybe we need to do something about it

Adrnln, have you considered getting the 1/4 mile opened up for these events aswell? Then you can have nearly every form of motorsport packed into the one day and give guys a chance to race in a straight line and around corners.
Stable
But how many would race in the middle of the day in our temps?
Blaze
I remember someone coming up with an idea one night while a group of us were standing around some darkened carpark with nothing else to do.
Instead of having a Super Sunday, the idea was to hold something similar over the entire weekend. From memory the timeline went something like this:
FRIDAY NIGHT: 1/4 mile meets at hidden valley
SATURDAY ARVO: Show and shine, sound off etc. Leading into:
SATURDAY NIGHT: Live music or DJ playing in the pit area.
SUNDAY: Drifting and lap sprints, presentations for overall winners of SAT arvo comps.
TheHeat
Its easy to race in the middle of the day in our temps Stable...you just get in your car, put foot on pedals and sweat....drags qualify from 3.00pm on so its in the hottest part of the day...its all part of the fun...plus it looks cool when you take a helmet off and you are bathed in sweat...chicks dig it...LOL

no offence to your wife, but the chicks you hang out with are weird!!! when i sweat i tend to emit funny smells
Zammo
and a burnout comp aswell

Must hav teh skidz
Adrnln
Burn outs are good and all but they are a King Cobra event and would need to be organised with NAMSC to work Together with each event

The weekend thing would be good but try and get a few thousand people entertained and keep them coming back night, after day, after day. For darwin standards it would be expensive, not just for the people running it but spectators aswell. Entance fee for each event, Food drink, it would be really nice and we could possibly work for that in the future but for now if we keep it for just the one day but make it visually on going for teh whoel day I think we would get a better result
BEAST MASTER
WHY OH WHY do you have to have it on every time I'm not in town.... god hates me... sad.gif
VLCT WALKY
why does it have to be a king cobra thing

can't we make our own club, so we don't have to worry about there shit,
RxRaver
^
Beacuse they are established and organised, starting a club is some work. they've already done all that, just join in there's. i dont have a problem going under their name. the "custom club" part includes us too.

But yeah, middle of the day sucks ring. this question ALWAYS comes up...

What about a NIGHT RACE, using HEADLIGHTS, and some other lighting on hazardess parts of the tracks or something... I'm starting a poll.
Salad Fingers
Night meetings are usually done every year.
at great cost, because lights are very expensive to run.
Stable
Did you hear about the indian guy who runs all the electricity in his house from methane gas from his cow's farts?... Thats what we need to do!

Get over here Paulie!!
Adrnln
Getting light is a good idea but I have a felling that Hidden Valley just don;t have the funds to get light all the way around the track.

I have heard that is in the pipe works for this to happen but at this stage no.

All the clubs have an agreement not to step on anyones toes ( petty I know but this is a dog eat dog world) and that no one can hold an event that has already been hosted with out the permision of the initial organiser or if they get the initial organiser to host the event in conjunction with their idea

( I think that made sense)

but yea all ideas a good but it does take alot to run and organise these sorts of events with the other big factor money
RxRaver
Did you watch the autobarn drift comp on sunday? they ran at night, without all track lighting, they just used their headlights for it.
In a city like Darwin with a great full moon light, i think if we just use our headlights and have a FULL MOON night race, we will have sufficent light, how's that for an idea? Moon can supply us light and a sweet view, all for nudding. ohmy.gif

like how many people drive in the rain in uncontrolled enviroments with cars no further than 10 meters away from you, so it should be okay i reckon.

See if Power & Water will sponser the night race's? dunno.gif

I think we know the results of the Poll so it wasn't worth putting it up.
RxRaver
It'd make for good advertisement as well,

FULL MOON RACING AT HIDDEN VALLEY! blah blah blah.

There ya go...

All very good ideas but the big word that seems to run a shiver and makes very one get very very upset is 'INSURANCE' I am more then welcome to address NAMSC to see if this is a option that tehy can forward on to see if they will . . . . .accomodate us with this request.

I should get some information later on
vh-holden
how much would those big flood lights they use for makeshift car parks be to hire. they crank out a fair bit of light. position them right and it should be all good:P
Adrnln
again people are missing the big picture of insurance. again I am finding out if this a possiblilty to do so in the future.
vh-holden
ok, I'M missing the point on insurance. no need to go accusing everyone, i was the only one that posted after you said it the last time tongue.gif

what difference would there be between a day meet and a night meet as far as risk for insurance goes?
Salad Fingers
Because people are fucked in the head Adam, and if they die and their family sues because of insufficient lighting/facilities & won.
Then we'd be all fucked up.

Could very easily happen.

Use a bit of critical thinking, young whipper snapper CDU student.

..IMHO

shut up

not allowed to read into stuff, just have to believe what i'm told so i pass

i'm sick of the insurance stuff. I can't use my car for official church activities cos it isn't comprehensively insured. we can't go for a bike ride or a hike at youth group unless we get a heap of forms filled in and have an accredited person leading it. where am i going to get an accredited cyclist from!!!! the stupid thing is that on the list of restricted activities, there is no mention of pig shooting, street racing or go karting. we can do all of them yet can't ride a bike!!!!!!
supertiva
mmm these are a list of my favourite things *sings*
trevor_the_grey
LOL, nice 'tiva...
