Whats the go with interstate police giving defects to your car (Say a vic copper in vic defecting a NT regestered car)
How would i get it removed if im down there ohnoes.gif

**Can i get one of our resident Policemen to give me the law's view ?**

u would have to drive your car back to mvr,

best thing to do is contact vic roads before u get down there and ask if your car is roadworthy in there state

i believe u will only have a few weeks to change across anyways!

so shouldn't be a problem!

If there is no MVR.. you can get it done at a cop shop (THis is how its done for remote communities).

as for being interstate, because of the different road regs, you'll prob find what is illegal there is legal here. (eg legal to have neons under your car in WA, but illegal everywhere else)

ON that basis you could argue the car is NT registered and would be considered road worthy in the NT. But then they can argue that you're not in the top end anymore...

look at the motor vehicles act for both states.

for NT its
MOTOR VEHICLES (STANDARDS) REGULATIONS

MOTOR VEHICLES ACT

for VIC might be the commonwealth one

umm, as far as i know, one of the leading contributors to the early end to the use of the LS1 engine is that it does not meet some emissions test in europe. somehow i don't think they will let you do whatever you want to a car.

NZ on the other hand.....
trevor_the_grey
yeah, but you get nowhere near as much HP in thier cars

sheep power on the other hand...

The "Motor Vehicle Standards Regulations" are Commonwealth documents (DOTARS-ATSB) adopted as Regulations by each jurisdictions parliament.

(We are a nation of sovereign States basically, each with their own Constitution).

If a defect is issued in VIC to an NT car, owing a conflict with the above, then the defect stands (if it is legit) in the NT too.

The National Vehicle Standards apply to vehicles post ADR.
