Like i mentioned earlier, yesterday arvo a 4wd smacked into the side of the camaro. The damage isnt extremly bad, but its caved in my drivers door and put a hefty dint on the front right guard.

The truck basicly changed lanes ontop of me. Didnt see me next to him or whatever. The damage can be fixed and they addmited resposibility so everything looked ok.... BUT!

BUT... they are flying out of the counrty tomorrow morning on holiday, so im left to HOPE they sort everything out with the insurance company today. But i can almost promise ill get stuffed around a few weeks, then wait a week for repairs. ANd that assuming TIO dont have to contact them for anything, coz then ill have to wait a month for them to get back from holidays befor repairs even start.

So theres a very real chance i wont get to race until next year, and after all the money and time ive spent recently, that really fucking depresses me.

Considering the costs involved id rather not risk it. And as it is I cant wind the window up or lock the car, so id rather not take it to a hotel for the weekend.

I might be totally off the mark. TIO might shine through and have the car fixed in a couple of weeks and everything will be ok.

i'm sure you could leave it at someone's house... maybe someone you know up here?

These are insurance companys they will try and get out of paying anything if they can, untill its assessed i wouldnt even be driving it (Ahh that couldnt of been caused by the accident ) But you might get a nice person / not have to see a assor and all will be good

Bad news tho.... Been told that the people took off thismorning over seas and the claim wont even be submitted until they get back.

I cant afford to go pay for the damage to get fixed now and get re-embursed, and that assuming TIO doesnt squirm its way out of it anyway.

Now im getting told storys of TIO automaticly puting 20% of the claim on the 3rd party for simply being on the road (they assume I must have had SOMETHING to do with the accident). If thats the case I could paint the car myself for the same its gonna cost me in the 20%

Its comes down to my choices

1. Wait for them to come back, go through the claim process, wait 6 weeks, and possibly get charged 20%.

2. Buy $500 worth of paint and do the whole car again myself, since it really should be done again.

Either way, I miss the finals.

That's why I don't like TIO because they wouldn't insure my hilux.... then I cancelled my house insurance and they asked why.... Because I got a better deal else where and you guys wouldn't insure my car.... and he asked why TIO wouldn't insure it.... because you said it was to modified.... So I gave him the spec's and he said that shouldn't be a problem to insure it.... I told him nicely that maybe just maybe they should improve there training too...

Thats it... im now fixing ans repainting the entire car myself at my own expense. Cant bear the idea of driving it around injured for 8 weeks, and since id be up for 20% anyway, i might as well do the whole car again.

Not sure if ill go black or leave it red. Depends on how the body turns out. And id have to leave the engine bay red.

Well im looking at a minimum of 6 weeks before the other party even return to the country. Plus 2 weeks worth of paperwork. Then the claims person told be TIO would be fighting for me to pay 20% on the grounds that the 4x4 say they indicated. I can fight this shit... or I can just get on with things. Ive spent over 7 grand on my car in the last few months. $500 for a new paint job bearly even matters.

Not the whole bill.... just the 20%. The problem is that 20% of the cost from a body shop, is enough for me to re-do my whole car.

I could argue and do the whole song and dance with TIO, but Im not willing to wait. That, along with not having the funds to pay for a shop to do it now, means my best bet is to do it myself.

Plus, as i mentioned earlier, I need to do it again anyway.

Now im all for customising... but i really dont know how good a cruiser front guard and door is gonna look on the Camaro.

Well, I got most of the dints out yesterday, the best i could with my little kit. Now Ill spend a couple of night this week sanding her all back. Then we'll tidy up the body work this weekend with a slip of bog over the dints, and (weather permiting) we'll spray it the following weekend.

EDIT: I still desperatly need another bonnet. So all of you with spare 3rd gen Camaro bonnets speak up... you know who you are
