My mate has a 1.6 pulsar like my own and hes fully N/A it the best it can be done... although he still has the standard ecu in it... Would upgrading it give him any extra performance and if so how much and what is the best one to get and approx prices! Thanx
q2cme
yes na cars can benefit greatly from ecu mods......if he has completely done it up with bolt on mods...they will be rendered useless UNLESS he has his ecu re-tuned
IDA73
microtech can be anywhere from 1.9k onwards depending where u go, thats fitted and tuned
EFO
shove in the sr20ve.
FAL53
What type of performance increases/changes will they do? Are they worth spending over 1k on?
q2cme
ohhhhhhhh nah i wouldnt say yes...like if you pic up a second hand comp for cheap u'd be ok but it would be hard to find and not reliable....

i meen if you fellas can do sum of the work urself as said maybe an sr would be a betta option if he is serious on performance and if he is keen to keep the car for a while evan an NA sr would be a fun rocket.....those 2ltr sss crack!!!
FAL53
Yeah hes not going to upgrade to an sr cause if he would go ahead with a transplant he would just go the sr20det conversion instead... it would make more sense... so just trying to find ways to get more power out of the 1.6 tongue.gif

seriously man one way is to do a bolt on blower conversion just grab a subaru vivio or 4agze blower and whack that puppy on.......u may need to decompress the engine depending on the stock compression and how many pounds u would like to run....but with this you would also need an aftermarket comp id say......
by the time all that happened you would be up for the same amount as an sr conversion.......

really exhaust ,pod .....port and polish oh and a higher comp ratio like make a very angry na.........making the comp ratio higher isnt hard at all take it to a local machinist and get him to take a bit of fand get him to port and polish the head too...shouldnt be that much ......i geuss it depends who you know there as well...

Ive never heard of that before>? what type of results does it give... sounds interesting... would that bolt onto a ga16?
q2cme
ok a subaru vivio blower is quite small but it will blow a consistant 5psi....and will fit just about anywhere as it is about the size as an alternator......
4agze will blow more boost without compromising reliability of the charger .....

um about the head porting...i wouldnt bother if you are using boost as the blower will force as much air in as it can anyway so it wont make any difference.....

but if you wish to go down the head road........Yatala head worx tell them jamie from import auto parts sent you (the guy with the a14 turbo)

im tyring to think of more things........give me a while and i will ahev some more mods for ya....

ps. im down in nth nsw and have a mate that will do head work cheap......
up to u

hope that helped

THis is what has been done to the engine so far

Custom Extractors
Full Cat Back high Flow exhaust
Cold air intake
Throttle body
Under drive pulleys
Cam spocket

and i think thats about it

so any other ways to get more performance would be great!!!
