update.

they've just had a reshuffle of positions at the salvos, so there are now 3 people i need to speak to instead of the one i was going to. I'll see them on friday when i am there.
CNOEVO
ok cool

Better get a map and plan/mark out the route to be taken and hand it out with the forms, that'd save allot of confusion.

and cars! i think driving cars would be a good idea!

(note to self: find a car)

sounds like fun!
CNOEVO
well we need someone to work out what way we are going to go from stokes hill wharf where the trams are.... to anula and i dont know how to do the forms so some one who dose can they do them ...... oh yeah we need helpers do any one dunno.gif
vh-holden
not sure if the wharf area is a goer anymore for starting a cruise. the fences are getting meaner.

might be better off at mindil except getting out in one group is an issue.

Take the Darwin high hill upwards, then over the intercept near the boat club, drive towards vesties, past vesties, then right, and left onto the main road.

Maybe start it at the explanade, or down where doctors gully is (Lots of car parks and prob a nice spot too).

Get the logistics sorted out first guys ie. Show an shine venue, entry, times, cars, who is interested in participating, when, where, what time etc etc., sponsors, media, who the cruise is going to support..worry about little things like the route later as thats the easiest thing to do.
vh-holden
that's what we're trying to do mark.... need somewhere to start and finish - the finish is likely to be the show and shine place.

i'll count the carparking spaces at the salvos in anula today.

maybe the heat you can help with the police side? see if they will do an escort in that nice pretty blue car you guys have.. =)
TheHeat
I am sure we can organise the escort thing again like we had last year..but can I suggest that the Show and Shine go first!

Firstly it provides a good meeting point to get everyone together, secondly it gives the public something to look at, thirdly you could ask for a gold coin or toy donation/admission which could further assist in fund raising and gaining interest for the event and then n the late afternoon you leave the show and shine, do the cruise and make the drop at the charity of your choice.

To have a show and shine at the end serves no purpose, no one will want to hang around and what do you do with anything raised from it. It becomes an anti climax.

The interest for the media etc is the large gathering and collection of cars in the one spot to start the event...the media came to the tram last year and covered the cruise. Did anyone see any media or interest in the end of the event? There wasnt any and thats my point.

ah, good point on the show and shine at the start.

i talked to the lady that does the family support services (ie - distributes toys) and she said anytime is fine. they will just put what ever excess there is in storage until next year.

next bit is to talk to the people in charge of the complex. what do i need to ask them other than is it ok to finish there?
TheHeat
I am making enquiries re a public venue for a show and shine...you decide on which charity it is going to support this year and where the 'end' should be...the bit in the middle is easy!

Once we have the venue then we just have to worry about advertising, setting the place up, coordinating everyone, admission, etc etc...is Fake XU1 still around? Some of you should have a chat with him regarding the logistical issues he faced last year...it needs someone to take carriage of the whole thing and a lot of willing hands to organise stuff and do things in the background to help make it happen....

Also got to decide on a date...see what else is on around the same time so it doesnt clash and the time it so that it features above anything else that is on...easy really!
trevor_the_grey
fake still lives, a bit... pity i cant say the same for car, heres hoping.

ill see him tomorrow night, ill tell him to pull his finger out and put it somewhere usefull.
vh-holden
if you still still want to do the cruise for the salvos, i'll still be happy to help liase, but i'd rather not put my hand up for head organiser dude as that will look a bit biased.
b0mb3r3
also... how do we apply to join in smile.gif and when ohmy.gif
CNOEVO
SOUNDS GREAT guys just put your name down on hear if you are going to join in on the cruise and any of your mates as wel so we can get a idea off how many people will be there ok ..... i dont know how to really organise this so can someone help me and i will do the best i can thanks

i spoke to the welfare lady and the church minister last night about it. they are keen for it to happen and are happy for it to finish at the church and have a bbq etc.

the bikes toy run is on the 4th or 5th, so probly best not to do it that weekend. the church normally has carolling engagements during december, but they haven't been planned yet, and can probably be planned around the cruise so it isn't too much of an issue.

If anyone is interested in helping organise it, maybe PM CNOEVO or me and we'll organise a meeting. Meetings are good apparently tongue.gif

CNOEVO
cool thats sounds good , know all we have to do is get this thing rolling maybe the people who organised this last year could help out this year too ....
we need to work out what date times and rought ok so any ideas would help so much and aslong as we can agree on them too
