Edit: lame thread when i was ricer.

Check out some Japanese auction websites or look for import agencies, the price they originally pay for the car is about how much it's worth.

R34's usually start around about 3mill Yen, or about AU$35,000. R33's are usually about 1.5-2mill Yen, or $17-20k.
frankxinyu
shit, imagine how much money they make sellin them in Aus. but i suppose they have to pay for the duty and shit.

stil cheap tho. even i could afford a GTR34 in japan.
Darkness
Well that depends on what you want to spend aswell, if you get something from one of the tuning houses then you up for a big price, then if you buy a clapped out piece of crap.

Me, i plan to get me an S15, hee hee hee.
frankxinyu
hi, mate. finally there is someone in this area. lol

ive got a s15 here. its nice to drive but not enough power if u dont wanna spend big money on it.

thats y im gettin a R33 GTR.

haah.

btw, do u live in japan or aus?
Jimi-taz

eg: r32 gtr 1990 model

sell in japan in $aud for $8,000

then shipping to australia - -$1300

compliancing $700

rego - $700 etc
TPG
so its only like 10k to get a gtr32 imported to aus then they sell them for well over 20...
bigdave_88
Its not that easy when bringing any motor into australia...

The government charges 40% of the price you paid for the car regardless of how long you have had it for....

They can do that you see because they are the government.... thumbsup.gif

yeah, when i put up this thread a while ago, i didnt have a clue about how this works. after i imported my car from japan, i realised that there are so many other costs involved apart from the cost of buying the car. so fair enough, we just have to live on with it.

its the azn
TPG
so if i was to go to japan and buy a r33 gtr or s15 now much would it cost to get it to australia, all costs included? im guessing it would be alot cheaper then buying one here
frankxinyu
well, it should be a bit cheaper and thats y i imported one myself. but u still have to pay around 10gs more than the value of the car to bring it in. the cost includes shipping, duty, GST, compliance( for a R33, it might need brand new brembo brakes which would cost heaps) etc. so they all add up.

sorry for being a n00b when i didnt know anything.

hey
i live in Japan and own a Vtec Honda Civic here. I bought my car dirt cheap here and its been really good.
I'm not sure if ill bring my car back as im here for another 2 years but i think it may be on the cards.
looking around here the actual car is heaps cheaper coz they have a few other expenses to pay on top of what they pay (yearly taxes, a 2 yearly car insurance and parking fees).
I dont know anything about shipping back tho so sorry cant answer those questions but any about cars here is cool.
i also noticed when looking at cars here they dont service them much at all. i dont think mine had been serviced for about a year so i guess thats something to consider too.
by the way, im a chick and dont know all the full technical stuff, sorry.
