Guys i don't know about u but i have had my car on the road for a weekend and was pulled over on Friday night!
Does anyone know where or how to get all the rules etc regarding what police are an't arn't aloud 2 do
On a second note, how many off u get attitute from the public servent (yeap that's write the person that serves the public, wish they would remember that) when they pull u over! i was polite etc, done nothing wrong, and had this jeck off accuse me of doing something i hadn't (great police work, do they actually get training or they just request power hungry jerk off's?) with the biggest attitude on the planet
I would like to know off everyone's experience's and what they have done, i personally want to take how i was treated further,
If anyone can let me know the writes we have as to what we do and don't have to do! would be great or even where i can find it out?

If you want to make a formal complaint regarding how you were treated, just get in contact with your local police station and make sure you have the officers details. I'm under the impression they have to take each and every complaint seriously, so dont go expecting them to shrug you off when you front up with a complaint.

after i got pulled up by a attitude cop, i printed off rules and regulations off the NT internet leglislation and kept in my glove box. Havent been pulled over since, but dont know how they would react to a young smart arse kid pulling a piece of paper out and saying "according to the legislation you cant defect me for not having a spare tyre".

For Official complaints you need to find the station the officer is working under. then go to there station ask for the Watch commanders name. Then write up a formal compalint detailing what happened when, and where. Sign it and ask to hand it to the person in charge. Make sure you ask for a follow up and out come. Then be prepaired for a interview on what happened make sure you have your facts right and dont be smart. If you take it seriously and your mature about it, it will be taken seriously aswell. I had a complaint in last year and it was taken on and sorted by a very nice Bloke at the police station. I havent actually been pulled over since for no reason. But then that could be coincidence....

u can't get defected for not having a spare, but u can be defected for having a bald spare !!!!
what i want to find out is regarding a normal police officer looking under your bonnect etc, making u leave your door open, performing a search off your car, are they aloud to do that, or do they need a warrent to search your car!
been told mix things,
My mate recon's u don't have to let them in, when they pull u over wind the windows up and lock all the doors and stand out side of the car! they arn't aloud to search your car with out a warrent?
another recon's that they can just do what ever they want?

I'll be honest, I've never dealt with anything that I haven't deserved in some way, and though in some cases, it probably would have been better as a case of 'fair go', I cop it on the chin, and deal with it.
I pride myself on being a fairly honest sort of fellow, straight forward, and do what I say.
The following offenses are what my entire driving career consist of.
2 Speeding tickets (within 10kph of the speed limit in 80+ zones on speed camera). One on Baggot Road from 80-70 zone (forgot to slow down), was doing 78kph) the second time 90kph in an 80 zone at 11 mile. While it'd have been nice to have been a case of 'fair go', I take it on the chin, and wear it. Why? because I was speeding.
One Speeding ticket 58kph in a 40 zone. 12am at T-Warf. Some people may remember that night, I'd honestly made a mistake, and again, I take it on the chin, though I still stand that the officers there were there in spite of us.
One crash where I received a ticket for failing to give way, driving without due care. Again, copped it on the chin, because it was my fault.
one defect for having parker lights that were too blue. I was annoyed by this, and honestly if they'd known me, would have known I'd do the right thing, however, they still defected me not more then 100m from my home. It's my only defect.
---
As far as issuing defects goes, I'd always thought that no spare tyre was a defectable offense, however, often left to the judgement of the officer issuing infringement.
If you got searched, there's obviously a reason for it. You either looked like you were stoned, or dressed like a Fubu Rapper punk teen bopper, with 12 mates hanging out the windows with their fingers twisted into ugly 'W''s.

Mate,
In answer to your question, a police officer gets his power to inspect your vehicle under the NT Motor Vehicles Act/Regulations - under which he is an authorised motor vehicle inspector, who (when it comes to performing a motor vehicle inspection) has the exact same powers as those guys who check your vehicle when you take it over the pits.
As for his power to enter your vehicle, well ..... how do you expect a police officer or a motor vehicle inspector to check your brakes and seatbelts etc. unless he can enter your vehicle to do it? Again, the Motor Vehicle Act gives him the authority to do this?
Now, I don't want to get into a good cop/bad cop debate here - but you asked the question and I have given you the answer.
Cheers.

trevor knows a story
once when trevor was a juvenile p plater he went for a drive down to the tdz in search of some social frivolities in the parents car (come on, trevor knows we all did it once upon a time). being late night, trevor drove with his lights on, and even high beams where necessary. about half way out to the boat ramp it became obvious to me that somebody had been following me for some time, at least 50m back the whole time. and he was only using parkers. quite rightly trevor started to freak out just waiting for a valiant (no offence to valliant lovers) of thugs to run him off the road and beat the living daylights out of him with nothing but a well endowed blond female to defend me. so correctly indicating, i pulled off onto the shoulder and waited for the car to pass so i could hang a u-turn and head back to town.
it was then that trevor discovered that the clever car of stalking thugs was a paddy wagon! it was then that i got the interrogation of my life, which included "your a long way from home buddy!" (yes, nightcliff is a foreign country to east arm) "dont get smart to me!" (in reply to "im out for a drive, officer") and "youve stolen this car, GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE!" (which was followed by a thrifting when they found out that the vehichle was registered to my father). i was then ordered to go home, and "dont come back here again". all this was provoked by polite and truthfull answers detailing my harmless and totally law abiding activities for the night.
trevor thinks that somebody should dissapear that friendly member of the palmerston police force for ruining his night!
although trevor would like to make clear he has no beef with the police, it was correctly mentioned before that these are public servants, i wonder what other branch of public servant would get away with making blantant accusations before observing the truth?

128. Inspection of motor vehicles
The owner or any person having custody of a motor vehicle shall, upon request by an inspector or an officer authorized in that behalf by the Registrar or upon request by any member of the Police Force, permit the inspector, officer or member to examine or inspect the vehicle for any purpose of this Act.
i found this, what does a going through a glove box have 2 do with this act, it's 2 do with road safty etc!
How come an officer needs a warrent to search your house, shouldn't they need the same to search your car?
i have nothing 2 hide, just asking questions
U said an office can inspect a car yet the dick complained about my lights (white light ones, passed mvr 1 day before) saying they where blue etc! if they have no idea, looking under my bonnet, i found another act that really sucks
(5) A member of the Police Force or an inspector who examines or inspects a motor vehicle or any person who is authorized by a member of the Police Force or an inspector to examine or inspect a motor vehicle shall not be liable for any damage to that vehicle caused by or arising from his reasonable actions in examining or inspecting that vehicle.
so the piece's of shit can move your car hit a gutter brake fuck a rim and u can't do a thing about it! that's just bull shit! Play with your leads etc change something and cause damage to your engine and there's nothing u can do about it!
and if u refuse they can arrest u! nice!

Yeah that was an UBER F*CKED night. Still could have been alot worse, for me anyway. We were probly speeding so thats why i didnt complain. But when the little prick in the friggin Barina said he was racing us, I nearly walked over an head butted him.
Then after the kid, you and Cordial left, the sarge gives ME this big lecture about how racing is wrong yadda yadda... and i have to expain to him that THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL I'D BE COUGHT DEAD RACING A BL00DY BARINA!. He agreed, gave me a $55 fine, ignored the empty bottle of nitrous rolling around the cabin and the helmet, and sent me on my way.
