Full Version: Vr Calais Motor?

hey guys im about to purchase a 1994 vr calais it has 175 000km on the clock and the service history but the guy im buying it off said that it has been sitting in the garage for a year and hasnt been driven. i took it for a test drive and it went good but is there any thing that can happen to a car if it isnt used for a year????

Meh sometimes the electronics can get a little niggly, but it should be fine. What engine is it by the way, 3.8ltr V6 or 304 EFI? My VS SS sits for nearly 12mths at a time and would be lucky to have done 800km in 3yrs. Still starts first go every go.

yer it is the 3.8l v6 motor it drives fine started third go wich isnt to bad considering it hadnt been drivin in a year so it should be alrite?? ill just get autoleaders to have a look over it aswell. cheers man

Yeah that's fine and normal. I'd just be draining the oil (engine, gearbox, brakes and power steering) and using fresh stuff since its sat for so long as a precaution, and also the fuel if it's been using the PULP and has some considerable amount left in the fuel tank as it can go "off" and cause fuel issues. When you do that then give it a good long hard drive as the computers do learn your driving style and it will oeprate far better with a good hard run (within reason of course)

got it looked over doesnt look like ill be gettin it water jacket and stuff is rusty and numerous other stuff. thanks anyway looks like its back to looking for some thing else
