I may have a need for a good condition T25 off a CA18 very soon, does anyone have one for sale in the gold coast or brisbane area?

hey mate i got one how much u willin to pay... its in good condition.. has slight shaft play but other than that is in perfect workin condition... i'm in springwood

but i thought i would also ask if anyone has any idea what is going on with my turbo...

first i blew up the ca18 i had in my silvia and had to buy a long motor, the mechanic then tells me that my t25 AND the t25 on the half cut are both clagged. so i bought another one (second hand t25) off him and he installed it and tuned the car, that was less than a week ago. all week the turbno has been making very strange scraping and sratching noises, but i never gave the car full boost because im running the rebuilt motor in. then today the turbo starts screaming like a dying cat at 6 psi and even though the boost guage is registering boost, the car is not making any power, but there is no smoke.. so im taking the car back to the the mechanic tomorrow to see if he can fix it... head_wall.gif

any ideas?

sounds like your exhaust manifold to turbo gasket is gone. is your fuel economy up the shit house as well? im 100% sure its the gasket mate.

ill mention that to the mechanic mate, ta.

do u think though that the gasket would explain the high pitched screaming under boost? it does kind of sound like escaping air, and even though the boost guage reads boost there is NO bost if u know what i mean, just no power. dont ca's take the boost reading from the manifold?

personally i would be putting on a t25g not a t25, the 25g is off the s13 sr20det, makes quite a bit of difference to the ca smile.gif

as it turns out, the execessive shaft play in the turbo allowed the compressor blades to slap against the housing and snapped 1 blade off and cracked the others.... it was a mess, i saw it today... but it was all under warranty thanks very much thumbsup.gif

And this was "good" turbo according to your mechanic?........sounds like he wanted to get rid of some scrap metal from the back shed........Did YOU inspect the turbo's on the front cut etc? Quite possible that those turbos were good but he wanted to keep them to sell at a later date.

This may not be the case but i have been screwed by mechanics years ago.........it aint fun.........and if you aint told you don't even think about it smile.gif

had the compressor housing been re-attached correctly, NONE.
since it was mong.... many.

I had the exact same thing on my 180 SR20, the gasket between the exhaust manifold and turbo was shagged and I swore to god it was a metalicy sound but it was hte gasket all along, replace that little sucker and she will be good as new id say unless ofcourse the turbo is sucking itself into the compressor cover.

But the gasket is a good bet.
