Anything smaller than 3litres is silly. Small things can't support big pressures.
My holden straight 6 is the best because it makes good torque, and we all know that while power wins in the pub, torque wins on the track.
your turn.

The engine in my car is smaller, may not be as powerful or as fast, but I'll still beat you as you will no doubt run out of fuel well before me.

Hah your puny holden motor pales in comparison to the mighty HEMI 265.
I love it because it started life as a truck engine in canada, and was transformed thru a mix of Australian and Italian engineering into a deadset screamer. In 1972, they put out 320hp in R/T spec. And an E49 charger would eat the 1/4 mile in 14.4 seconds on dodgey 1970's road tyres. In my car I have the Hi-Comp 2bbl performance version.. with the lowest spec carb and exhaust package. It drinks like a 4 and pulls like an 8. Its got tourque bloody everywhere .
These days with modern performance enhancements there are turbo, blow thru carb HEMIs doing low 10's and being driven on the street every day.
They were (and still are) horribly underated and must certainly be one of the greatest engines ever put together by Australians

Man where do i start,. Here is a short list.
Rods
Pistons
Head or heads
Valves
Vale springs
Pushrods
Rockers
Cams
Oh and they all go up and down not round and round what a waste of energy.
All adds up to more things that can go wrong and thing you don't need
Mr Mopar
Nov 18 2009, 09:37 PM
*cough* apex seals *cough*
I really do appreciate rotors.. but despite the common sense that less parts means less maintenance, it doesn't really work out that way in the real world. And for the capacity ..they are horrible on fuel.
That said, as a performance motor, that is well looked after.. they are frikken awesome.

.. yeah... I haven't always been a mopar nut.. I grew up restoring 1930's european cars.. then moved onto 1960's euros....then 1970's euros... My first car was a heavily modified beetle....and we did consider putting a rotor in it at one stage....
Then we sobered up

With my turbo hilux rotor ute i used to have i could put 20 bucks worth of fuel in it, take it to the drags race it, run 11 second quarters and go cruising after and still go home with fuel and the v8 boys would alwas be putting fuel in there cars. It was awsome on fuel and when tuned properly a turbo rotor uses bugger all fuel and apex seal problems are prity much a thing of the past with the new type.

well. as an engine goes through its combustion cycle, the exhaust expelled from the engine turns a turbine wheel that is attached to another wheel via a shaft. this other wheel (known as a compressor wheel) then spins at the same rate as the turbine wheel (proportional to the ratio between the two wheels) that then draws air through it and pressures the intake system that is then pushed into the engine as the intake valves open
thats why my

I'd be double checking the dictionary on that one

mo·tor (mō'tər)
n.
1.
Something, such as a machine or an engine, that produces or imparts motion.
2.
A device that converts any form of energy into mechanical energy, especially an internal-combustion engine or an arrangement of coils and magnets that converts electric current into mechanical power.
