With a value packed 2 day program on 21st & 22nd November, there will be something for everyone. The event has 2 separate drift classes, ‘Pro’ and ‘Street’ with more than 60 cars expected to take to the tarmac at Baskerville.

The lure of big prize money has already generated a considerable amount of interest both locally and interstate. With a total of $15,000 prize money up for grabs, including $5,000 to the Pro Class winner, it will be Australia’s richest drift competition. For the first time in Aussie drift history....No. 1 qualifying spots in both classes combined will be worth $2000, a massive incentive that is sure to ignite the action on Saturday like never before.

There will be plenty of entertainment throughout the weekend with non-stop action on and off the track, including a Big Entry competition, Team Drift, the Interstate last man standing drift Challenge, Time Attack and extreme motorcycle stunts.......plus so much more. Never has such a large nationally focused drift event ever been staged at Baskerville before, and the way things are shaping up....this will be the BIGGEST sideways event the Apple Isle has ever seen!

Don't forget - Print off teh event flyer and put it up in a high profile place in Tassie - Post a picture of your efforts and you could win the VIP GOLD GOD pass! Free entry, free clobber, meet an elite drifter, watch the qualifying from the control tower + get strapped in for a HOT LAP as well!!!!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!OZ DRIFT GP ANNOUNCEMENT - Number 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OZ Drift GP is proud to announce the very first confirmed entrant for the PRO-CLASS

After a brilliant 2008/2009 season that included so many crazy moments....ladies and gentlemen your first entrant is....

'COOL HAND' LUKE FINK

Luke who drives for the slick Holford Motors Drift Team, comes to Tassie representing Victoria, and will be drivingone of the most highly developed S14 Nissan drift packages in the world. His ride is about as nuts as the driver, packing some serious SR20 giddy-up. Massive entries, incredible speed, and more attitude that ever before will make Luke one of the big names to beat at the OZ Drift GP event.

Hot from his domination of the recent Drift Supercup Event at Mallala Raceway in South Australia, Luke is coming to Tassie for one reason......to have as much sickass fun as possible......a direct quote from the big man himself  Get set Tasmania....Luke Fink is headed your way in November, and is ready to belt the Baskerville track like never before. Did someone say BIG ENTRY COMP?

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!OZ DRIFT GP ANNOUNCEMENT - Number 1.2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As mentioned already, the OZ Drift GP is proud confirm Australia's NUMBER 1 Drifter 'Cool Hand' Luke Fink as the first addition to the PRO-CLASS

After what can only be described as a flawless 2009 season so far, Luke has laid claim to every major Drift event in Australia so far this year.

He dominated at the Drift Super Cup at Mallala Raceway in Adelaide;

Recently he swept all before him in the shifting weather conditions at Oran Park Raceway in Sydney to snatch the 2009 Drift Australia Championship;

Now, Luke and his crew from Holford Motors turn their attention to the impending OZ Drift GP event at Baskerville Raceway in Tasmania. With two massive runs on the board, the Green Team is keen on a season clean sweep, and have the number 1 prize in their sights. In addition, Luke is heading a huge influx of VIC based drivers, all keen on making their presence felt in the Apple Isle event.

The question that remains on everyones lips......who can stop this juggernaut of Australian Drifting? Who will step up and meet the Fink attack head-on.....and who will be the driver to deny the smoking hot Holfords team glory in Tasmania? After the incredible display at the recent Drift Australia event, it's evident that Luke can adapt his skills for any weather condition, so who ever does step up.....are going to need to bring something very very very special to the table.

!!!!!!!ANNOUNCEMENT 7!!!!!!!!

......so you think you can drift? Who decides if you can or you can't in a competition like OZ Drift GP? The Judges of course! In most instances....that is the correct answer....BUT NOT THE ONLY WAY IN THIS CASE! For only the second time in Australian Drift history, we are proud to offer the ENTIRE entrant fields (Pro and Street) the chance to compete for the;

PEOPLES CHOICE - CROWD PLEASER AWARD

This is an award based purely on the decision of the crowd in attendance at the event. The idea is that over the coruse of the event the crowd will select a single driver they think goes hard, drives well, looks the business and entertains them like no one else. Votes will be cast during the pit breaks, and the public will be allowed to show the drivers just who floated their boats!

The very first award was handed out at the Drift Super Cup (DSC) in Adelaide, and it was taken out by 'Cool hand' Luke Fink.....his reaction was very clear "This award means so much to me, it's as good as winning". It's this value that we hope to attach to the award down in Tassie. It will be the 'People's Award', and will be decided in a totally unbiased way......by the people watching.

.....accolades don't get much better than that.

Australia's best stunt bike teams have book a place at the OZ Drift GP! DR Stunts have teamed up with Front Up Freestylers (FUF riders), and are set to ignite the Baskerville Raceway track with their unique skills and sheer madness on two wheels. Sporting killer Jap road bikes converted to stunter that pump anywhere between 11,500 and over 13,000rpm, the DR boys will be looking to make their mark next weekend.

DR STUNTS - CLICK HERE!

Front up Freestylers - CLICK HERE!

"We love doing crazy crap at the Drift events, and the people who come to these shows appreciate our Jap bikes and flogging we subject them too", explained Danny Ross..AKA - Captain Bannana's the team leader from DR Stunts. "We have a seriously fun show planned with multiple bike interaction, new stunts and possibly an appearance of a Postie bike into the routine for the first time! I expect the crowd will like what's on the agenda, and I'm stoked to be coming down to Tassie with the team".

DR Stunts and the FUF riders really turned it on at the Drift Super Cup event in Adelaide earlier this year, where pouring rain looked to have prematurely ended their event. The DR boys took to the wet track and were doing things not humanly possible on bikes in the wet.....much to the enjoyment of the crowd.

Expect something special when the DR Stunts/FUF Stunters hit the Baskerville Track next weekend......and expect more than a few bike tyres to be sacrificed to the tyres Gods as well!

Oh and if you think a bike can't drift......wait until you see the main straight speed manji's! :silly:

crowd pleaser award fresh off the press....got a distinct feeling that it may just go to a driver from pro class under the age of 18 and without a drivers licence (and not im not under 18)
hektic_spec
nor are you driving in a drift event lol
MrMitsu
Why is drifting always either advertised late or not advertised at all?

I find it always difficult to find enough info on drift meets (starting times, entry fees, location, prizes etc.). They need more posters up on streets and maybe radio adverts.

this event has been advertised here and there for quite awhile now...atleast 6 weeks...itll be advertised on the radio in the coming week and tv late next week thumbsup.gif

reason events up your way arent advertised is due to the club that runs events in the north not believing in advertising etc etc...while our hobart events we gain very little from putting massive amounts of effort into advertising in the north in ways more so than TV....

its all about budget...up til now there has been very little $$$ to spend on advertising...its a grass roots sport like most tasmanian motorsport events...

LOL which rock have you been hiding under? This should be a huge weekend. Hopefully I'll get my passport sorted for the trip south

i dont see how you couldnt make more money by advertising on tv! round 4 was an example of by advertising on tv, how big a crowd you can actually get. not everyone goes on boost or the internet but would love to go to the drifts and would happily pay to see it!

its a much bigger picture than that unfortunately and not all that simple...while it makes sense in principal...i assure you its not that straight forward smile.gif

all this is known to all those involved already...just sit back and enjoy the ride...drifting tasmania is still in its infancy (third year of statewide series) in comparison to other state level competitions....

having travelled to both victoria and south australia to attend state level events and speaking with people in western australia, new south wales and queensland it would be of general opinion our state series is already the premier state based competition in the country, hence the support shown by mainland drivers making the trek to compete regularly unlike in other states (bare the small contingent that travel between VIC/SA on the odd occasions)

think of it as this way regarding events in the north...the club is nonprofit, whom basically run the rally series as there main feature...drifting is just a way of attracting members, while the events they hold is a "members service" to keep members happy...they aren't passionate about doing anything to further the sport, nor make it more commercial or lucrative for the drivers...but at the same time they do exactly what they set out to do to quite a high standard and no1 can hold anything against them for that...
MookieMadskillz
everybody should come to this its gunna be epic !

even if u dont like drift there will be something for everybody !

why does every1 think that lloyd is gonna get crowd pleaser? yeah he is a GREAT drifter, especially for his age

but these are some of australias best drifters.. not just tassie. i was watching a video of finks big entry at a comp on the mainland and he was pretty much at a 90 degree angle on the corner

it'll be a toughy i reckon

video is nothing like it is in person, have seen fink drive many a time and he continues to wow even me...yes he is the best driver in the country by far...his already taken the win in 3 of the premier competitions this year (Drift Australia, Vic Drift - Drift Attack and Mallala Supercup...and in all honesty he'll prolly take the win at ozdrift gp aswell

BUT

we're not talking about the win, we're talking about the crowd pleaser...home crowd support, 16 year old drifter and a already massive following...did you attend any of the round this year? particularly rnd 3 and 4 where he made the final? ive NEVER heard that kind of support for a driver from the crowd...

ive seen the Adelaide fans go nuts when Leighton Fine beat the CTS car in a stock s13 with coilovers at supercup.

llyod has alot in reserve...if anything the events his competed in has held him back due to the strict nature of the series...ill be the first to admit that...this kind of showcase event where pleasing the crowd is a big part of the running and success of the event, the reins will be slightly loosen'd wink.gif
tweetwoof
yeah i know we're not talking about the win, is lloyd entering street or pro btw? lol

he has home field advantage tongue.gif but the 'foreigners' will know that and prob try to go a bit more mental just to get the win, didn't fink say it was better winning the crowd choice than the actual event? with that mentality i'm sure he'll try to put on a show to beat the hobart boys.

should be good seeing the better drivers pushing the tassie drifters.

actually been really excited for this since delazy or ecko first posted it months ago biggrin.gif

another entry in...

Andrew Milne - SA

300rwkw R33...beat ben purtell in the top 32 at supercup mallala earlier this year...so guess thats the start of interstate rivalry

Jake Jones - SA

330rwkw Rb25...3rd place at Drift Australia, 2nd place in Vicdrift Series, 3nd place in SA g1 Series...the kids had a busy year...hottest new talent in the country

Nigel Petrie

260rwkw SR20...insane drifters team member...runner up at rnd 3 of the tasmanian drift series and recently finished 3rd at VicDrift - Drift Attack..."fresh" from driving at 16 drift events this year, with another 3 to complete the year in style

throw fink into the mix, along with a number of drivers i havent mentioned/pictured and then the locals in on top....josh priseman, llyod smith, ben purtell....shit is going to be loooseeee
tweetwoof
hahah that insane drifters 180 looks so haggard... i love it! And the matt black/grey 33 is porn except for the front guard looking wonky.

any idea on how many cars on the day?
hektic_spec
ah nigels 180 is pretty mint actually! he runs a kit for the track n a kit off the track! ud be hoping for 64 drivers in both classes ud think! apparently there are another 15 main landers comin that purtell has been talking to

this pic was only taking a week or 2 ago! so wouldnt call it haggard! his extended the rear strut towers so the car sits lower aswell!
delazy

i doubt we'll see 64 entries...but id expect a easy 50...should be the biggest event baskerville has seen in quite a number of years...

the extended strut tops also assure that the shocks in the coilovers maintain stroke and dnt bottom out from being so low...so basically despite it being so low, the suspension still does its job smile.gif
ecko
btw im pretty sure any home track advantage would now be void as none of the locals have drifted the sweeper or linked the whole straight..
therefore id say its anyones game

What's the criteria for time attack entry Delazy?
I tried to open the entry link but it opens up the street class form, Is there sup regs with entry details available?
It sounds like some quick cars will be in the field- which will rule me out ph34r.gif !! But looks like this will be a great thing for Basky and motorsport in general for the state and no doubt would be a good thing to be involved in.

isnt any sup regs as yet...your best bet is to call dick directly as entries are limited...

give that one a look over...it workd for me...

$50 and 2S/SE licence required which im sure you would have

quick cars is an understatement...possible a lambo, r34gtr vspec, ford rs200, jza80 supra all running below 60's and a few more which are yet to be known...how often do you get to follow/chase such cars? wink.gif

theres no if. buts or maybes...this event WILL be the biggest event baskerville has seen in years...

the applause and congrads rnd 4 of the state series got from every corner of the state for the event we held few weeks back will be blown away by this event...i dnt think this state has any idea the kind of support drifting has/potentially will have...
