Result = Shoei are not able to supply a liner for this helmet. So they have offered me a brand new lid, albeit from old runout stock.
I consider this to be above and beyond, especially given the time, circumstances involved.
To those that showed me support - a heart felt thank you.
To those that just had to have a dig...well...karma's a funny thing.
So all in all, a good result.
Cheers
Si.

To be honest after 3 years i would expect the lining to need replacing either way, as it would have compressed so much it wouldnt fit properly any more...
That Shoei is a "race" helmet, are the others you've bought been "race" ones or more street ones?

Do they sell replacement liners? 3 years is a long time between manufacture and purchase, that seems a bit weird. Warranties will always start from the purchase date, however you'd need to prove this with a receipt. My $500 Shark is going on 2 years now with reasonable wear. From what I've read/heard, the extra money on helmets isn't necessarily represented in quality or safety.

My dad bought a Cicinello (sp?) replica shoei real cheap once. was a few years old, thats why it was discounted. Only recently MA scrutineers have started checking the date on helmets at Historic meets. Its about 6 years old now also, still good but out of date. Luckily he got away with it because the girl liked the design

You wouldnt have thought it would have perished so badly in three years...
However I never have a helmet longer then 2-3yrs anyway before replacing it.

Guaranteed the warranty would start from purchase date. It's written in the trade practices act somewhere, however without proof of purchase they don't have to help you out. Might be a reminder to keep the receipt for next time.
