Hey guys,

I seem to be having an issue with my Pulsar (89' S2 Q 1.8LE), this morning as I was driving home the ECM light switched on, but turned off after about 15-20 seconds. About 2 minutes later, the same thing.. though the ECM light stayed on for longer.. maybe 1-2 mins? this continued until I arrived home.

One I was home I checked the ECM for fault codes, it flashed code 21.. which would indicate that the throttle position sensor voltage is too high. That's a push in the right direction for sure, but where do I go from here on rectifying the problem?

I need the car to get to work tonight, so would like to possibly have it rectified by tonight.. any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Kane.

The problem is most likely the TPS needs adjustment, however it would be fine to drive as too high is better than a low voltage for the TPS wink.gif

At the most, you may be up for a new TPS sensor smile.gif

Okay so it should be fine to drive even though the ECM light is still on constantly?

Took apart the throttle body tonight and gave it a good clean, got rid of all the carbon and cleaned the area around the sensor.. it idles a lot lower which is good but yeah, the ECM light is still on, though the ECM is now showing no fault code in diagnosis mode?

The ECM has logged a fault so light will remain on intermittently until cleared(battery disconnected or ECU fuse pulled etc)

It's all taken care of now, took the throttle body off again today and gave it another clean, ended up picking up a new TPS and intake hose for $10, all installed in less than 10 minutes and reset the ecu, now no problems at all. Re-adjusted my clutch while I was in there, car now runs better than when I bought it.

Thanks for your help champ! smile.gif
