hey guys, wondering about installing a ps2 in my 01 vx commodore.
just a couple questions

would i need to add another battery or would running a massive inverter be fine?
has anyone done it and how did it go?

also i was told this would it work:

Get a power inverter and wire the positive wire straight to the battery. You will need a small fuse to go between the wire and battery. Then wire the negative to a uncovered metal part in the car. See how much power the ps2 draws before you get a power inverter.

also i have a double din lcd flip out head unit... would i just run the three coloured cables from the ps2 to the screen.. ie. the red/white/yellow ones? video/sound/ or something?

i cant say that i have done a ps2 i was going 2 do a xbox 360 and yes you do need a power inverter with wire runing to the battery then just earth it to the car make sure it has no paint on it however you souldnt need a 2nd battery

yes you do just need the red white and yellow rcas runing to the headdeck on the aux in hope this helps

You shouldn't need to get an additional battery...

You will need a DC to AC converter. This little converter changes the electricity that your house uses into the type your car battery uses for the PS2.

Earth it all then just connect your RCAs (red/white/yellow) just like you would if your PS2 was connected to a TV.

DONOT runt he positive to the battery what ever u do we just used one that plugged in the ciggy lighter worked fine

I would hope that you upgraded the wiring to your cigarette lighter then because it won't last too long! They can handle about 10A and I'm pretty sure a decent inverter will draw more than that.

You're obviously mistaken bud. Why on earth would the sparky tell you that running a 30amp (capable) inverter thru a wire that's rated at 10A (your cig lighter circuit) ??

no i think he ment that he upgraded the cable goin to the ciggy lighter from 10A to 30A which makes more sence... but then again how much would a ps2 really draw... like 3-4A max?
